Dude. Can't wait till he's back in the White House as the first First Gentleman, or whatever. Seriously.

God he's good. That angry look is real. I think they're going to be ready for the R sleaze machine.

Hm, is it possible for Bill to be appointed to take over Hillary's NY senate seat when she wins in '08? Wouldn't that be something?

Cmon, he wasn't that great. Plus, such hatred in those eyes, and that unearthly tone of complexion... Time for a new hero!

He looks like a crazy old redneck machine politican.

He's just better than the other politicians. That's all. Sorta like Michael Jordan was amazing on the court, but not much of a human off the court.

Yes, never mind that he's a total badass...his complexion sucks! Please stop talking if you're going to say such transparently lame things.

Hate? Or fury? Fine line between the two.

If anyone would be able to recognize disingenuousness, it would be Bill Clinton.

Everything he says in the clip is on target, but still...it takes one to know one...

@11 He's not a "total badass"... he's a politician who doesn't deserve to be worshiped. If anything he deserves to have an honest appraisal of his presidency, instead of endless fawning over what a "total badass" he was. Yeah, he's better than what we have now but that doesn't mean we can't criticize him or his complexion. This is Slog for gods sake.

well I love him still (would gladly have played hide the cigar in the oval office with him)- except for DOMA and DADT, those were bad bad failures on his part- but- I. DON't. Want. Hillary... except that if she's nominated I'll vote for her as what will probably look like the lesser of two weasils... ugh sorry state of affairs. I'd like to have the balanced budgets and foreign policy of Clinton 1 era back!

I love him. I'd so much rather see a President Obama, but he's the only reason I could live with a President H. Clinton.

Also, I wish Anderson Cooper would show more ass.

Bill's amazing. Did anyone hear the NPR interview with him a few weeks back? The focus was on his charity work, but the interviewer also asked him to briefly give his opinion on the "surge". He laid out the case against it in one paragraph better than any Dem has done on umpteen speeches and debates, and in a way both hawks and doves could support.

I disagree that Bill Clinton "wasn't that great". I think he's one of the best presidents we've had in modern times. I wish the points he brought up were more widely discussed.

Oh, I miss him. I miss the intelligence, insight and capability that used to be associated with the POTUS.

Once and future king, y'all.

I would also prefer Obama in the White House, and moreover his wife, because she's fucking brutal, but a little part of me experiences the little death every time I see Clinton lay the smackdown.

The man was a chronic liar. Maybe he was personable, and maybe he was a Democrat, and maybe Toni Morrison thought he was black, but seriously he lied his way through eight years of presidency. Of course, our current president also lies. This isn't a contest between the two ("Which president lied the most?!") -- it's a need for objective analysis of the Clinton administration. Don't let nostalgia fog up your glasses! Just because he may have been easier to live with than Bush doesn't make him the best president we've ever had.

Hey Katelyn @ 22:

While I stand by my "total badass" comment, I don't think he's the best president we've ever had, and never said that. I would say he's the best president we've had since Eisenhower (yep, better than Kennedy), and maybe even for the entire 20th Century.

Sure, he wasn't perfect...He was flawed like any human being. And it is part of the job description for politicians to lie (just like lawyers). I think your bar is just a little high. Isn't Clinton at least in the top 10-15% or so? Who, in your mind, has been better besides people like Lincoln and Jefferson? Examples please.

Oh, and you're still lame for knocking his complexion, Slog or no.

OK, he probably wasn't better than Roosevelt. But still.

Clinton's presidency was flawed and he as a man was very very flawed. I don't believe that he deserves such a pedestal just for being a relatively good president. He IS, however, an objectively good rhetorician, and I will give you that. (Sorry, Bill Clinton, for dissing your complexion earlier. I understand that you're an old man who can't help how red your face turns when you get going.)

Someone's got to speak up, Matthew. The guy is not God, and it's okay to mock him. If he's as awesome and above it all as you seem to think, then he certainly won't be harmed or even offended by my comment about his skin.

Say what you will about Clinton, but unlike the current White House cretin, he isn't vacuously incurious, or poorly read or lacking capacious memory. Even many of the East Coast intelligensia seemed to have little warmth for him because they perceived him to be nothing more than a big-dicked bubba who never met a broad he didn't like.

One doesn't, after all, purchase a Rhodes scholarship over the counter at Wal-Mart. Muhammad Ali was once noted to be the most recognized, charismatic man in the world. I believe that person now is Bill Clinton, florid complexion and all. But don't forget: Hillary has fat ankles. Hillary stood by her man. Hillary's smart as a whip. Hillary's a woman. All extremely valid reasons to hate her, especially women who should know better. But constantly prove they don't.
