I want a Democratic Presidential candidate who is "on it."
Even if every bible-thumping, creationism-spewing, RU486-pill-nondispensing Republican douchebag hates her guts.
You know, the solicitation angle is just what I first thought of when I read yesterday that Obama has no major union endorsements. I immediately thought he just didn't have the staff that knows how these things are obtained.
Experience matters.
This is great news - a highly respected black man on the leadership team in Seattle, great! Now, where are the women?
"I was waiting for a call" is just bullshit. Really, that's how you choose leaders, based on who sucks up to you?
If Sims wants his fucking endorsement to mean anything he should figure out who's the best (I think it's Obama by a mile) and say so. What a load of crap.
@2, At first I was in agreement with you, and then I thought a little more about it and I'm not so sure.
Hilary getting endorsements from black community leaders is news because they're not endorsing Obama.
On the other hand, black community leaders endorsing Obama -- even with the whole "Is he Black enough?" meme that's in the media -- just isn't news.
Now, what would be funny is if Obama's people are going around soliciting endorsements from well-respected female leaders! (
Okay, that last bit sounds really odd after I typed it out, but I think y'all know what I mean. Like a female governor, mayor, Oprah, head of NOW, I don't know...
I suspect that vast black community leader endorsement for Clinton is based primarily on the potential for "being on it" as far as offering positions and increased aid to the programs that the leaders are associated with rather than what she could do for the black community as a whole.
Clinton may have Sims, but John Edwards (who I think is the best), has got the steelworkers union........and Danny Glover.
