word from City Hall about all this is that Nickels is just plain not very smart. If he can't ram something through, he has no ability to think creatively about how to compromise or work with others to make it happen.

The ironic thing is that he keeps using others' language in saying he wants a 'safe and vibrant' nightlife. Seems more like he wants quiet streets at night with no nightlife. Has he proposed one thing to support nightlife of music in Seattle? One? Anything?

And the hell is the so called "Music Office" on all this? Does that thing even exist anymore?

Regarding "safe and vibrant"... Grouchy old people will regard anything at night deserving the name "vibrant" as a sin against their personhood. Maybe Nickels would prefer everything "vibrant" shut down at or before 9pm. Let's get a strict curfew on the books too, and also: no short skirts. Long, colorful, vibrant skirts are okay but not short skirts, they incite violence.

I for one was glad to see the cops actually showed up when one of our street guys whacked out in Fremont recently.

Nice to know they don't just push the street drunks out of downtown into the more residential neighborhoods ...
