Mitt Romney Assumes the (Anti-Gay) Position

posted by on September 8 at 10:36 AM

It can’t be an accident that the NYT chose to illustrate this story about Mitt Romney’s flip-flops on gay marriage with this photo…

Hm. Mitt’s new anti-gay position looks pretty gay, doesn’t it? And leave the little girl alone, Mitt. Go bother bigots of voting age.

i hope he gets the nomination. evangelicals and fundies will NEVER vote for a mormon-that'd be akin to voting for a pagan or a voodoo doctor.

plus, then everyone would get to see how batshit insane mormonism is.

Not all of them wouldn't vote for a mormon. I've seen a few evangelicals on tv saying they would vote for him, because a) he is a man of god and b) his policy views are the same as theirs.

I think he's a scumbag who should have been laughed out of the race by now but the fact that he's still here tells me he's someone we shouldn't underestimate.

Yes, many Evangelicals are willing to make alliances with Mormons--as they do with Roman Catholics on the abortion issue (Evangelicals have serious doctrine disagreements with Catholics, most even feel they are not real Christians)--if the end-result is stamping out the greater evils of secularism, athiesm, and the biggest bogeyman of all: homosexuality. In their worldview the biggest fear is a nation of people who don't give a shit about God. Evangelicals don't even disapprove of Jews much these days (afterall they'll be taken care of the the Last Days).

That position isn't all that gay; the angle is all wrong. He needs to bend forward more and straight his knees out a bit.

No way Rs endorse a Mormon. They'll hold their noses and vote for Giuliani.

There's a lot of Mormon money in the GOP, and the LDS church owns sizable stakes in many large corporations, so there's a lot of bucks behind Romney.

Still, it will be interesting to see how they will sell this to the GOP base. The "I've got mine" crowd won't be a problem - he's one of them, after all - but the fundies will be tricky. Granted, they're not the brightest bunch of people, and tend to stick to their dogma, but a few charismatic clergy might be able to change that.

Given the choice between a cross-dressing New Yorker (even if he is "America's Mayor") and a Mormon, I suspect they will go for the Mormon.

But will the greater voting bloc go for it? Only time will tell.

And in the real world people are still being maimed and killed everyday in a war that the pro-life asshole George W.Bush started with the support of America\'s favorite cocksucker Dan Savage. Here is an excerpt from Dan\'s article \"Say Yes To War\" October 2002

In the meantime, invading and rebuilding Iraq will not only free the Iraqi people, it will also make the Saudis aware of the consequences they face if they continue to oppress their own people while exporting terrorism and terrorists. The War on Iraq will make it clear to our friends and enemies in the Middle East (and elsewhere) that we mean business: Free your people, reform your societies, liberalize, and democratize... or we\'re going to come over there, remove you from power, free your people, and reform your societies for ourselves.

Don't think the religious right will vote for a mormon? Okaaaay....

Think they'll vote for a woman instead?

Or a black man?

I think every single one of the 23%'ers will vote for any republican candidate there is. Even the one who wears a dress. The rest who have cognitive abilities will consider voting democratic, but will at last cast their votes for pure republican tickets. When it comes to ideology, rational thinking leaves the room.

in the meantime, the same silly little troll gets the same silly little hardon whenever he posts something about silly little Dan Savage and his silly littpe positon on this silly little war. He feels like he's making a difference by spamming this silly little slog that the same 50 people read every day.

Good work, silly little troll - much easier and more convenient than actually doing something to protest, especially if you store your little tirade on your clipboard.

Figures he'd be in the catcher's position--his name is Mitt, after all.
