I dig the new remodel at that branch. The Montlake one is ripe for some pre-fistfight as well. But dang, when are they going to finish the UDistrict branch? I hope the Plaid Pantry stays at is, or there will be punches thrown, oooh the tension. You've got me on the edge of my seat Jonah.

Thanks for the report Jonah, sounds like an interesting meeting. Do you know when the next such meeting is being planned or have any links to more info on this debate-I'd like to learn more.

As a resident of the CD, I welcome the new center. I am not entirely sure what I have to fear from a group of hard working individuals who have taken great risk for the chance at a better life for themselves and their families. Isn't that pretty much the American Dream we always hear so much about.

Oh wait, nevermind, they have brown skin, so keep the fuckers out.

Like it's a safe neighborhood to begin with. Jesus.

I walk by Casa Latina every day going to and from work ... I have never felt in danger or threatened. Sure they whistle at the ladies ... but that is pretty much it.

My real and only issue with the place is the amount of trash always strewn about the place.

My god ... its like a garbage dump at times.

Why are people even giving judicial watch the time of day. Theyre the voice of the extreme right. Their two big things are going after Hilary Clinton and the Dems and going after immigrants.

Check out their site.

The bios for the tools that run this place says it all. Theyre right wing neo cons. The city of Seattle should follow Colin and Senator Klines' lead and stand up to these tools. Every council member should issue a statement saying they will fight them. The city has the right to provide funding to a financially sound 501 c3. Where is David Della denouncing this? Isnt he running as a progressive?

It seems as though people that in their own neighborhoods are being told that they can't stand up and say "No, we don't want a center like this in our neighborhood," for whatever reason they choose. I'm sorry, but the people who are going to live right next door, around the corner, or down the block from Casa Latina have the right to say "Hey, I don't want a bunch of people loitering in my neighborhood all day long." That's basically all the message has to be about. The message doesn't have to go so far as to say "Hey, I don't want a bunch of undocumented illegals hanging out in my neighborhood getting it all littered and messy, possibly committing crimes, maybe just maybe doing something worse to our kids, etc...." Just what is so wrong with the neighborhoods concerns? I'm sure that Greg Nickels would not be happy about it if Casa Latina would be opening this center next to his home in West Seattle, but since it's not he's totally ok with it. Until this a place like this is opening right next door to any of our own homes I suppose it isn't really right to be so harsh towards those objecting it.

I realize that Stranger writers consider it their sacred duty to attack right-wingers, but it would make more sense to address Mr. Farrell's points directly. Because he doesn't really have any. The city of Seattle hasn't violated any law by allocating money to Casa Latina and Farrell's gibberish about the funding violating federal immigration law is ridiculous. Nothing to see here, folks.
