They should have mentioned that they will support the development of studies to study those listed issues. Actually DO something tangalbe? Well, not so much.

Hey, in the arts to do list section, Someone writes that tonight's lecture at Town Hall is "dumb and wrong." Never fear! We enjoy the dumb and the wrong! Look for our review tomorrow in the Morning News comments.

After hearing from Burgess on the CWA issue, and knowing his other positions, and after Della's vote for the nightlife ordinance today (after he told me directly he would vote against it), I agree with Friends of Seattle on their endorsement of Burgess. He is smart, has experience in business, is progressive and will get things done on a council that just took close to a year to do whatever it is they did today on this nightlife license mess.

We need some council members who can lead and keep us out of lengthy, messy, poorly led processes like the one around nightlife. I think Burgess can help with that.

Burgess is also pro-density, and is endorsed by progressives I like and want to think can trust like Joe McDermott, Charles Royer, Nancy Guppy, etc.

Not to excuse his decision on working with the CWA, it was a bad decision, and he has admitted that and I trust wouldn't make the same one again. He's not perfect, but who besides Savage is?

What a bunch of tools. Endorsing all the incumbents (except the one who worked for pro-life groups and spent more time undermining democrats than helping them) is not the way to bring a breath of fresh air into Seattle politics.

I wish they's stick to issues and not become another group that needs to be pandered to.

Anyone is welcome to read about our reasoning for each endorsement by visiting http://www.friendsofseattle.org/2007_city_council_endorsements.php.

Really risky endorsements - two, Clark and Rasmussen have no opponents, and of course the guy who took hate monger money is forgiven.

The hate mailings were not targeting all the straight folks, but queers and people with AIDS - and really, who gives a fuck about those disposable people. Really. When the chips are down.

I am a big fan of FoS, but have had my doubts on Burgess. The more quality groups that get behind him however...

What a bunch of fucking shits! Suppose they will need to change their name to Friends of Homophobes. Along with that stupid list of a bunch of idealistic bullshit. More mass transit...better infrastructure...vibrant parks. Give me a break. Suppose they want to create a name for their group by picking the bigot. Hope this stunt ends up bringing down their whole organization.

Wow... Imagine if Slog posters actually spoke to Burgess about their concerns.

Or imagine if Erica or Josh actually wrote an article about why so many groups keep endorsing Burgess over Della.

Maybe then we'd all learn something...

It's not that safe a slate when you consider that both Harrell and Burgess are likely to lose. Three gimmes and two strikeouts isn't going to give FOS much pull in City Hall after the election.

I haven't been keeping up...are you stupid bastards still ragging on Burgess? Will you actually vote for that clenchbutt Della, even after he went to the mat for the fucking nightclub license? Do you think Della is some kind of progressive who cares about gay rights? Jesus!

I pity you.

Uh oh! Looks like the Seattle City Council is going to ban abortion and gayness if Burgess gets elected!

God forbid we actually consider candidates for Council based on their positions on issues that the Council actually deals with.

i can understand why someone wouldn't vote for burgess if they feel he hasn't proven his "changed" self enough for them... or not voting for him to send a message that working with hate groups (even if they admit it was a mistake, withdrew from the project as soon as possible while allowing other employees to do so as well, and eventually let the client and thier money go) shouldn't be quickly forgiven.

but often people here refer to him as a homephobe in the present tense, which does not seem to be true. or dislike him simply because he is religious. i veiew those as invalid and harmful reasons not to support someone.

has the leopard changed his spots?

I don't think so ... the choice is Della or Burgess ... I take Della.

Seems like a lot of strong opinions by people who haven't done their homework. Look at the record and read the endorsements - it's Burgess over Della hands down.
