In politics, the word whore is commonly applied to corrupt corporate executives and their minions, including politicians and media personalities, as celebrated by the left-wing website www.mediawhoresonline.com.

It’s an extremely common term in politics, one that every Seattle liberal has heard of. So why do Seattleites do backwards somersaults when political candidates use the term?

It’s all about manipulation. Republicans keep their stooges in line by exploiting patriotism and religion. But that tactic doesn’t work too well with liberals. So the Seattle Mafia instead exploits “civility.” Did you know that candidates aren’t even allowed to mention their opponents in statements in the Voters Pamphlet?

So bizarre is this aberration that Seattleites vent more hatred on people who call corrupt public officials and corporate executives who screw the public than they do on people who try to hold them accountable. Over the years, I’ve investigated and reported on scandals that involved the loss or theft of millions of tax dollars, the exploitation of children, students raped by adults, teachers driven to suicide and on and on. But the public almost never expresses outrage at these actions. Instead, they vent their fury at me when I merely call the perpetrators “whores.”

But I’ve never backed down. On the contrary, I’ve become a fierce believer in accountability, without which true reform is impossible.

So if you want reform, vote for me. If, on the other hand, you love lies and back-stabbing, theft and embezzlement, rape (literal or figurative)—you know, business as usual—then support The Stranger and its pedophile friends.
