Slog - Comments on Busy Day Crowd-Sourcing

I'm currently in search of video of Republican Rick Lazio's controversial walk over to Hillary Clinton's podium during their 2000 debate in Buffalo. I can't find it easily online, I don't have an intern, and I'm on deadline and multi-tasking and don't have time to keep doing a huge web search myself. Anyone out there want to show off their internet-video-finding skills? Here are some more key words for you, from a Sept. 20, 2000 New York Times article: During the debate, Mr. Lazio walked over to Mrs. Clinton's lectern, waving a sheet of paper, gesturing at her and demanding...

This occurred somewhat before the heyday of video sharing, and is a bit too obscure to ensure a lasting shelflife on the internet. Try calling the Clinton campaign.

Eli, check this out:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/election/july-dec00/ny_10-19.html#

It's from the pbs newshour. I couldn't open it on my mac, due to my sheer incompetence at downloading realplayer. In any case, it's accompanied by the tranacripts of what's shown, so there should be footage of the interaction/confrontation/desperate attempt

But, yeah: Thank goodness for PBS

I can see it! It's there's! It's not really that exciting.
Not to sound like I get off on seeing women threatened with violence, but I was hoping that SHC would look more uncomfortable. She's so freakin' confident all the time.
Try it again. Download the real player thing. Then, close all your browser windows, then, go back. Hmmm... that's not really helpful, is it? Wait, don't you people have someone for IT stuff?

I remember seeing that... it was hilarious! Lazio was playing to the 'take the bitch down' crowd. He lost the election that very night.

Even the upstate blue haired republican dowagers were pissed. And believe me... upstate NY is one big DAR* dog pound!

To this day Putz Lazio refuses to admit it was a blunder.

Worked OK on my mac, thanks for the link, pbaitch. She saw him walking over and tried to forestall him reaching her podium by extending her hand. He moved right in anyway. Finger stabbing at the document he put on her podium, finger waving a bit, and not so much yelling as raising his voice to talk over her even-keeled response. Mos def in her face - what a goober.

I liked it. Politics is theater anyway. Maybe it was a tactical blunder of Lazio's but at least he'll always be remembered for trying to stick it to the Man. (There's decorum and then there's real life!)
