Apple’s finely-tuned hype machine—the best in the world by a damn sight—has everybody all frothy over whatever new must-have, slightly-different-than-the-last-one gadget Cupertino has up their sleeves this morning.

Fat Nano? Wireless iTunes? iPhone Nano? iTuna? xPod? zTrip?

The event starts at 10am (that’s like, now), and live coverage can be found here, here, here, here, here, or here.

Perhaps they're finally unveiling their new product-unveiling product?

Ring tones? Glad I'm not sitting in that audience, or I'd be rolling my eyes so much they'd have fallen on the floor by now. Hope he's got a killer closing...

@5: Just goes to show that anyone can be mesmerized by marketing hype so long as it is aesthetically pleasing. Oh brave new world that has such people in it...

OH GAWD DAMMIT! The ugly-ass, squat iPod Nanos are REAL!

Someone at Apple needs to be shot.

Actually, the squat Nano works for me in a cute-ugly sort of way.  If I could fit my music into 8 GB, I'd buy one to save money vs. the classic. (My iPod recently died.)

Funny you should say that Kate- I use the Cartman voice all the time.

It's a staple, really...

#8: Hey, man, it's not just aesthetics. The products function really well. If they just made pink computers or something that would be one thing. But they make things that people actually enjoy using.
