Charles,
Hey dude! Long time no speak. Well, I’m still alive and still obsessed with my old hobby (serial killers).
Anyway, I’ll get right to the point. I’m planning on doing a showing of “Collectors” (the documentary I’m featured in) at 911 Media Arts. I was hoping you might help your old pal get some free ink. Maybe an interview (I know that’s askign a lot) but at least a mention, maybe in The Stranger Suggests.
I don’t know if you’ve seen the film but I’ll be doing a Q & A after the showing. You can see details of the film at abjectfilms.com. Plus I’d love to get together and watch it with you. I can bring it to your place or vice versa. I’ve got a ton of old reviews and a couple interviews about old art shows and the board game. I got quite a bit of ink during the New Orleans art show in the ’90s.
Anyway that would be a big help to me. I want to get a good-sized crowd as I plan to give some of the dough to the West Memphis Three and every penny helps them. That’s why I’m willing to defend myself after the screening of the movie, which makes me look like a complete ghoul.Give me a call soon,

LLLLLLLLAAAAMMMMMEEEEx500.
Ever give him that call?
sadly no.
Sorry, dude.
Congratulations, Charles; you've found your new low!
tobias was an odd one. not at all surprised by the way he died.
"Please promote me" e-mails from friends and acquaintances come way too frequently when you work at a newspaper.
so he and eddie vedder shared a fascination by those lil killer former goth kids from memphis?
maybe u can do him one last solid and screen his film at HUMP?
a new low? i find this sweetly sentimental and pretty heartbreaking. a touching little note from a time when, maybe life didn't seem so bad. a dude reaching out to an old friend for a little god damn help.
everyone's got their demons, man. sometimes they win. sorry about your friend, charles.
"Please promote me e-mails" are something you write way too frequently when you're an artist/performer/musician. It's just a part of that life, just as receiving those e-mails is part of working in the media.
This post tells us nothing except that Charles used to know a guy who killed himself, and that guy once did what all of us do and wrote to his friend in the press to say "hey, check out this thing I'm doing." I just don't see how it's interesting or relevant or anything at all besides macabre and exploitative.
I'm sorry for your loss, Charles, and my heart goes out to all who knew him.
Charles, if you ever need a hug, or some salt, maybe a head of lettuce, or a blowjob, call me. I'm here for you.
Interesting letter, Charles. Thanks for posting it.
