Win at Life!

posted by on August 21 at 17:01 PM

No one knows for sure if the universe is designed to help us “win at life,” as Grant Trevithick, author of two Christian self-help books, claims on his website and in his books. But we all know for sure that child pornography is illegal, and Trevithick was sentenced to five years in prison for yesterday after pleading guilty to child porn charges. Says the Dallas News

Grant Trevithick, 47, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in September to one count of child pornography in interstate commerce.

According to his Web site, Mr. Trevithick has written several books, including ABC’s of Perfect Relationships and How to Win at Life.

Mr. Trevithick was also a guest teacher at area churches.

The ABC’s of Perfect Relationships should come in handy as he negotiates prison sex.

I like to win at life by having the perfect relationship with a hot 12 year old.

I feel no sorrow for the guy - but - there are legitimate issues that simply having a photo that would be defined and child porn by someone, can that be a crime?

There is no such crime in several Euro democracies.

One case cames to mind of a naked male holding his naked child, baby. Porn or beauty of nature itself?

Prudes will think any naked child photo - or any naked person photo is ALWAYS porn.

Hope the regular Slog poster is not so constipated/fixated as the right wing prudes.

I used to win at Life all the time. I used to love the little spinner dealy and the cute little peg people you'd fill your car with. So cool!

For a while it was better than Monopoly but then Bonkers and Sorry came along.

Milton,
Someone in the New Yorker wrote an article about you a a few months ago; it was kind of interesting. But I don't need to go on, a lot of Stranger related people are hip to the NY culture machine. They probably know about it already.
Thanks for the games :)

Just curious - what makes his books "Christian?" I see no reference to God, Jesus, the Bible, etc, that would indicate he claims to be Christian.

He sounds like the he is of the same nut case variety as the author of "The Secret." But I do not see any religious references at all.

I'll tell you what he said. He told me to insert the Lifeline exercise card into my anus!

Oh yeah, today is not a good day for The Church and Dallas - these stories are also on today's news:

I think that he got a bad deal from the courts. There was no real contact with children.

So, does possession of a picture make you a pervert? And, how distorted is the info shared by the press? You know how the news is "MAKE IT SENSATIONAL".

What will this do to the rest of his life? Have a little mercy here folks. Personally I don't buy the justice system in this country. Truly, there is No Justice.

There are so many real criminals out there (stealing copper from school bus battery terminals, rape, burglary, assault, extortion, not to mention purgary at the highest levels of govt. We have much bigger fish to fry here.

Would I read his books, no, but at least he is attempting to come to grips with life and share his knowledge in the process. Remember, what we teach is generally what we need to learn.

If men in general were more able to feel their feelings, more willing to relate intimately, learn how to really connect (I mean REALLY connect), were more interested in being a great bed partners, then sex with women would be more fullfilling. If it takes porn to get you off, well anything less is not enough.

This is a lesson to all men who fail at true intimacy. We women are tired of boring love making, the lack of interest in pleasing us, the wham bam stuff. (I'm not saying this about Grant as I don't know the truth about him.)

As men's bodies change the body produces less testosterone which changes everything for them. It is not the woman's fault, it's biology. Face it 50% of men over the age of 40 are impotent. Time to focus on something other than sex and know that it is not the end of the world.

Wrinkled and gray, complacent, low hormone levels: if we don't allow our sexuality be sparked by something other than hormones or appearances, perhaps more of us turn to pornography of some sort. Not a good choice, but A choice.

I say we pray for the guy whether his brand of faith is different than ours or not. We don't know the truth about this case. Really, this is a very tough sentence for such a small crime.

He made the mistake of viewing some porn and someone finding it on his computer. How many of you have done that? Wow, how many of us could find ourselves in his position.

Have a heart. Grant is not your run-of-the-mill pervert. Is this the justice system you want handling your case? Is this fair? Let's give him the benefit of doubt as to his level of guilt.

Pray hard. Pray hard. Pray hard.

Let's think about this. Participating in the child pornography industry is to reward those who kidnap children and turn them into sex slaves. That is no different than those who lay their filthy hands on the children. Pray that Grant will come to know the true Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Grant believes that he is God - we see where that got him. I want the best for Grant but he committed a serious crime and needs to be off the streets.
