The Stranger Suggests
'The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters' (FILM)See what else is happening in Film on Friday. In 2003, Redmond resident Steve Wiebe set out to topple the long-standing all-time high-score on Donkey Kong. Little did he know that his assault on the record would spur the ire of the exceedingly arrogant Billy Mitchell, holder of the record for over 20 years. King of Kong, which conquered this year's SIFF, chronicles the scheming, heartbreak, and absurdity that followed. The result is this year's brightest, and most routinely hilarious, documentary. Trust me on this.
Oh, and Saturday is Fremont Outdoor Movies with the latest James Bond flick literally climbing the walls! See you at 7:30ish!
I saw this movie at Slamdance this year. It is one of the best sports movies I have ever seen.
I caught this at SIFF and really enjoyed it. Billy Mitchell is officially an asshole.
A great movie.
A terrible documentary.
And yes, Mitchell is an asshole.
