Eddie Izzard (THEATER) Long before he was spicing up such Hollywood fare as Ocean's 39 or whatever installment they're up to, British actor Eddie Izzard made an international name for himself as the world's preeminent history-obsessed heterosexual transvestite comedic solo performer. This weekend at Seattle Rep, Izzard returns to his roots, with two performances of his new solo show, Work in Progress. (Seattle Repertory Theatre, 155 Mercer St, 443-2222. 8 pm, $50.) DAVID SCHMADER

Saw the show last night (thanks Brendan for the advance tip - tickets went fast. I laughed for 2 hours straight, tears streaming down my face. Eddie Izzard's standup is fucking brilliant. One of the funniest parts was a 20 minute spontaneous tangent after a fly that dive bombed him on stage. Worth every penny.
To those who attended the Sunday show:
What was the deal with the crazy woman in the middle? Tourettes?
A rather common Seattle comedy audience phenomenon, Carlos--an audience member seemed to want to announce the veracity of something a performer has said to everyone.
From where I was sitting (a few rows behind the person you're talking about)--it seemed like she couldn't help herself from saying "Yes" throughout the show.
I suppose, it could have been a hiccup...or a snort...but it seemed semi-intentional.
Frankly, I was somewhat surprised he managed to control the crowd as well as he did.
And it WAS an awesome show...that I can't wait to buy in its finished form on DVD in two years...

PS--Believe it or not, Sean...a fly landed on Eddie's suit jacket in the encore on Sunday night's show, too...
