There Is No Morality Without Religion

posted by on August 21 at 13:04 PM

A Bloomington minister and substitute teacher charged with abusing four underage boys may be headed to federal court on pornography charges.

Assistant State’s Attorney Michelle Brooks said Tuesday morning that the U.S Attorney’s office is looking into allegations that James Love possessed child pornography on a computer seized from his home.

Love, 37, faces four counts of aggravated battery and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is accused of sedating and sexually abusing four teenage boys at his Bloomington home. Initial charges involving one boy were filed in early May and additional counts came a week later after police interviewed other boys who had attended an overnight stay at Love’s home….

Love was a minister at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Not blaming the victims, but what teenagers stay over at an adults house?? Especially at a minister/priest's house.

Dan your title: Since I am a born again athiest "Praise Humanity!!!" does that mean I have no moral fiber? I mean I donate money and time to charity, care about those around me, even strangers and obey the law.

Erm, Cato, I believe that is meant to be ironical, being what the religiofascists like to say about us godless folk.

Gee Dan, does your hatred of religious people and your undying attempt at smearing them all with a broad brush ever just get old in your head? Or is your brain so fried from years of drugs, booze and anonymous sex that this shit actually means something to you after all these years?

Grow up and realize you are nothing but a petty bigot.

BIGOT! BIGOT! BIGOT!

Your constant attacks on Christians are just as relevant as the seattlepi.com soundoffs that jump on any crime committed by a black/asian/latino person to point on the "inherent inferiority"

Not that anyone's paying attention to either of you, but I continue to applaud Dan's pointing out of rank hypocrisy wherever it raises its nasty, self-righteous head.

I love it too. . .keep pointing out the hypocrites and liars that sit in judgement of others.
I hate Christians! Self rightous so and so's.
If people like Dan don't point them out then they will hide it like the gawd damned Catholics.
The kids need to know that hypocrites are the worst and can know it's okay to tell. Instead of hide it and live with it for years like so many did.

*sigh* i keep forgetting how FULL OF UNMASKED HATE "liberal" Seattle is. We all know there are no such things as churches who feed the poor or counsel addicts. It's not like the Salvation Army, St. Jude's or the Union Gospel Mission do anything.

Good looking out, Dan.

Levislade, you obviously did not get my sarcasm. But at least you got Dan's so there is still some hope for you. Now I am ignoring you.

Ah, yes. One would think that it being FULL OF UNMASKED HATE would be a constant reminder that it's FULL OF UNMASKED HATE, but I sometimes go for minutes at a time without remembering that Seattle is FULL OF UNMASKED HATE. And what better reminder of that UNMASKED HATE which Seattle is so very FULL OF than Dan's stubborn refusal to ignore the all-too-common hypocrisy of everybody's favorite persecuted majority.

It's still amazes me to hear Christians attack with the silly illogical "but some/most churches do goooooood!" argument. Irrelevant!

Attack on Christians? This man was a monster.

Cato - even after you've claimed it was sarcasm, I still don't understand how your comment was sarcastic.

@4, 5 & 8 - Pointing out the hypocrisy of a group which claims moral superiority is entirely valid, and can't be compared with suggesting a racial disposition towards criminality.

Keep fighting the good fight, Dan.

@10 *applause*

@ 11 - problem - it is clear looking at all of Savage's posts that they aren't on the people - they are on the religion. I also read the Seattle P-i's soundoffs on occasion, and I see the same parallel - people love to jump on a black criminal to point out how blacks are inferior, much like Savage emphasizes the "christian" in the criminals - attacking not the people but the religion.

Not some, but Most churches do good.

Amen.

Anyone whose moral fibers are grounded in NOT going to hell are merely acting in their own self interest! This is the ultimate hypocrisy of religion!

Those of us who think, without relying on being told what to think, have true moral virtue.
