Once again, Josh, you are ready-fire-aim. Check out the statistics, and you'll find that the most heavily trafficked local web site in the Seattle area is ... The Seattle Times.

This is true in some cases, but all too often (and Slog is a frequent offender) blogs troll the legacy media websites and report some amazing breaking tidbit that is days or even weeks old. It really just depends on which story you're discussing.

Josh, you've been doing this for a few years, right? Haven't you ever noticed that the "fastest growing" music genre or extreme sport or religious cult is always one of the smallest ones? And anything that has been around an while and become fairly large and well-established never seems to match the growth rate of the latest fad?

Since that state of affairs is the norm, it doesn't really qualify as news does it? And the reporter who turns the high growth rate on the fringes into news is being a little bit deceptive, isn't he?

Makes sense to me. I read the NYT and the P-I local section online daily, and haven't read a physical newspaper other than The Stranger since the time of the local paper strike. The Stranger has too many neat cartoons to just read online.

"On crack" is still the most worn out, unfunny phrase, with Comic Book Guy riffing coming in a close second. Oh, I just threw up in my mouth a little as I typed this post.

People on crack shoot each other downtown; they don't read Harvard studies.

OK, cue the crack jokes!
