to the best of my knowledge Pastor Ted has not sold his home in Colorado Springs which is surely worth $300k at least... curious.

Also, the rumor mill has it that Haggard's agreement to shut up has an expiration date of a year so expect to be hearing more from him come January.

Or just send your money to me! Sure I'm a godless heathen, but you'll have just as good and/or better chance of getting into heaven if you send money my way. I swear.

You have GOT to be kidding.

I have often though about Cyber begging. If I did, I wouldn't even bother with a sob story; I'd just say, "look, I need money, please send some..."

What a motherfucker. I can't believe this guy. The really stupid thing is I'm sure he'll get lots of money from super "tolerant" aka retarded Christians.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. You know, I really thought that he would get his shit together, break up with his wife, accept who he is and write a tell all book of how the religious right is trying to take over the country and expose the truth.

I hope he starves to death or ends up whoring himself out for cash.

What is it about these fucked-up catastrophes that attracts them to COUNSELING? Who wants to be counseled by such a loser? "Well, maybe you need to address your problem by living a lie and denying the fundamental nature of who you are; it worked for me, for a while".

Still not as good as Oral Roberts' claim that God would "call him home" if his ministry didn't meet its fund raising targets -like God's into racketeering or something.

If Ted had any balls he'd tell people to give him money or they're a-gonna fry in hay-ell. I could respect that.

Mike Jones didn't mention that Ted has such HUGE FUCKING BALLS.

You know, I think I might just send Ted and family a special donation.

Let's all send checks for hundred's of dollars and then put a stop payment order on the check! THAT is HILLARITY!!!!

Ted reminds me of the Greatest Nigerian Scam E-mail Ever that I recently received. I almost fell over from laughing so hard:

“Dearly beloved in Christ,

I am Mrs Catharina Kitty Sies from Netherlands. I am married to late
James Davis of blessed memory who worked with south african embassy for
twelve years before he died in the year 2001. We were married for eleven
years without a child; he died after a brief illness that lasted for only
four days. Before his death we were both devoted Christians.

Since his death I too have been battling with both cancer and fibroid
problem. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of US$25
Million(twenty five million dollars) with a security company firm in
Europe.

Recently, my doctor told me that I would not last for the next three
months due to cancer problem. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke
sickness.

Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to either a
charity organization, devoted Christian individual or God fearing person
that will utilize this money the way I am going to give instruction with
all sincerity to fund churches, orphanages homes, widows and also
propagating the word of God.

Because I don’t have any child that will inherit this money and my husband
relatives are not God fearing, for they are into idolatry worship and I
don’t want a situation where this money will be used in an unholy manner,
hence the reasons for taking this bold decision. I don’t need any
telephone communication in this regard because of my health, and also
because of the presence of my husbands relatives around always. I don’t
want them to know about this development.

As soon as I receive your reply, I shall give you the contact of the
Finance Security Company in Europe where the diplomatic consignment was
Deposited for safekeeping. I will also issue an order of authority to the
security company, authorizing them that the said luggage has been willed
to you and a copy of such authorization will be forwarded to you. I want
you and the believers / community where you reside to always pray for me.
My happiness is that I lived a true devoted life worthy of emulation.

Please always be prayerful all through your life. Any delay in your reply
will give room in sourcing for another person / organization for this same
purpose. You will have 20% out of the total amount for all your time to
carry out this dream and to cover whatever expenditures to claim this
money.”

A tax write-off AND a reward in heaven?!?! Wow, so tempting... Waitaminnit! Temptation is the work of Lucifer. Ted Haggard has now proved without a doubt that he is a meth & man-ass consuming devil directly from hell! I knew it.

Oh, Just Me @ 8? "I hope he starves to death or ends up whoring himself out for cash." I believe you got your wish - at least the 2nd half.

And people wonder why I did what I did. If I had not said anything this crap would be even bigger than it is now. So dispite the hate thrown at me, I am glad I did what I did.

Anyone stupid enough to send him money deserves to be had. Even senile old people should be able to smell this foul cloud of rank hypocrisy.

@19 - good point! We have his address now. What are the best mags to send meth loving closet cases?

This strikes me as borderline illegal from a tax perspective. Can you really make a tax-deductible donation to a nonprofit organization, only to have 90% of it be given directly to a specified individual? If the mission of "Families with a Mission" is to provide monetary assistance to Christians in need, maybe. Otherwise, it seems pretty fishy since directly giving money to Ted Haggard would not be tax deductible.

I suggest: Black Inches. It's my personal favorite...

C'mon, Julie, it's a FAITH-BASED INITIATIVE. Forking over hundreds of thousands of dollars on putzes like Haggard while agencies that serve real families in need fight over pennies -- that IS the real purpose of government.

Posted by Fnarf | August 24, 2007 11:28 AM

Hmmm... well, I know who's getting a complimentary subscription to International Male, Undergear and International Jock.

@23: Let's find out.

I'm with Julie. From irs.gov concerning 501-C(3) non-profits: "and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual."

And since the only references I can find to "Families with a Mission" are in Ted's own letter, it sure seems to be nothing more than a pretend organization and a PO Box. One that would look like a charitible contribution in your check register, but it wouldn't hold up to an audit.

It is not illegal to send him money. But it would be to claim it as a deduction.

These Christian leaders are evil. No other religion is as bad. Judaism never has tax cheats or child molestors.

I love the anti-Christian postings in The Stranger. Seattle Christians are all idiots, and The Stranger is the only publication with the balls to kick some Christian ass. Mazel Tov.

so, in light of this, i am moving forward with my plans to open a charity for myself, in which i need help paying for sarcastic asshole school. hopefully mine is wildly more successful, because you will see a lot more come out of donating to me than donating to such a dense man.

Unbelievable! I live in Colorado Springs (sorry!) and I cannot believe that Ted is STILL asking for money. BTW, his house here is worth approximately $700K; his severance pay over $300K, and the dude is STILL asking for money! He makes me sick. I wish he'd just admit his gayness and get on with his life!

Posted by MotherJones | August 25, 2007 4:20 PM

Hmm, interesting that he moved to the Phoenix area - an area currently battling one hell of a meth problem. All that temptation might make it hard to keep clean.

Maybe we should all mail Pastor Ted checks for $0.02, along with nice letters telling him that a lifetime of hard work and prayer might get him back into Jesus's pants.

It's over. Ted will NOT be going to "work" for the halfway house in Arizona...they fired his ass! KRDO did a follow-up tonight and while I can't quote verbatim, the gist is that they felt his letter asking for money was "premature" and they are washing their hands of him. I, for one, can't be more pleased. Thanks so much, Stranger!

Maybe now he'll sell that damn house worth nearly three-quarter of a cool million dollars. Maybe he'll finally get it and come out as a gay man. Dang, he could do so much good that way!

(Don't send him any money.)
