First the Mariners take two of three from the Angels, and now, at long last, here comes Adam Jones.

Hallelujah! This is the most exciting call-up since King Felix! And I'm going to Friday's game!

Speaking of which, I'm going for my friend's bachelor party. It'll be a rather tame affair, but will contain at least one bit of buffoonery. I'm interested in predictions on how it will turn out:

We want to make the groom attempt to carry in an inflatable doll (fully clothed--no nudity) using an extra ticket.

How do you think the notoriously nanny-ish Mariners' staff will respond?

Jose Guillen was not amused about Adam Jones' arrival.

"Well, here's a non party-line quote from Jose Guillen, who pulled me aside and told me he's absolutely "pissed off" about the Jones promotion.

"I just hope they understand this isn't Triple-A," he told me. "This is the big leagues."

"This is a totally different league," he continued. "I understand he's a good prospect and he's ready. But this team has been good. I just completely don't understand that move right there."

The guitarist from Tool? Wow, he's multi-talented!

Just don't call him "Pacman".

If Guillen doesn't get it, maybe he missed Richie Sexson's three pathetic at-bats last night.

Or Raul Ibanez's entire season.

Guillen is an outfielder. About a few weeks ago, Guillen was promised an extension of his contract (he has an option for next year but otherwise no financial commitment from the team beyond this season). Then Bavasi and Co put that off right before the trade deadline. Then Adam Jones, hotshot AAA outfielder, gets called up.

I'm guessing he feels a bit paranoid and threatened in general, even if his job isn't necessarily the one at stake.

Stands to reason. I've heard Guillen say more than once that he wants to stay in Seattle.

Big fucking deal about Adam Jones. On the one hand, I'm glad to see the M's using their farm system. On the other hand, the kid's stepping into a situation where he' s got virtually no experience. If he's got the guts to get in there and basically luck his way through Major League situations, I'll cheer for him.

All the chit chat can stop...now. Time to see what the kid can do.
