Slog - Comments on Slog Poll Results: Who You Want to Be the Democratic Nominee.

Below are the results from our second poll of Slog readers on the race for the Democratic nomination. Our first poll, way back in January, produced a similar top-three when Al Gore was factored out. You guys like, in order of preference: Obama, Hillary, and then Edwards. We'll try doing these unscientific polls on a more regular schedule in the future (maybe monthly instead of every-eight-monthly) so that we can watch how your opinions change over time as the primaries draw nearer. Perhaps we'll even draw some unscientific conclusions about your unscientific box clicking....

Pick Your Candidate:

Okay, here's a really simple way to find out which candidates share your views. This script is composed entirely of data collected by www.2decide.com. Enter your choices below and hit GO to rank the candidates.

Here's how it works, if you want to know. If you agree with a candidate, he gets point(s). If you disagree, take point(s) away. Unkown/other results in no points. The number of points given or taken depends on the weight you set. "Meh" is worth 1 point, "important" 2, and "key" is worth 5. The items you disagree about will be listed directly underneath each candidate (if they score greater than zero).

It's rough because of the broad generalizations, but interesting nonetheless.

Also:

You would probably be interested to know that Kucinich has been the first choice of 59865 people (out of 103590). That wasn't my intention or expectation when making this site, but it is certainly interesting.

Kucinich has no chance because although we are thinking animals, we are still animals. And the part of us that we share with other pack animals, the part that likes to form up under an alpha male or alpha female, is completely unreceptive to the idea of Denny as an alpha anything.

That "pick your candidate" website is totally geared to produce a Kucinich result, whatever the guy claims. It doesn't even mention the traditional issues, like economics. It's just hot-button moral issues. It is in fact a clear bias to extremism, either right or left.
