Sigh

posted by on August 1 at 19:49 PM

It’s been a really annoying day.

First, My HRC post gets chastised for failing to note that Obama was doing well in key states like New Hampshire, even though my Slog post actually bolded that point.

Then, Joel Connelly calls me a bigot.

Then there’s the screw up in our primary endorsement cheat sheet.

And finally, there’s this comment on Slog: “Oh, and you’re an asshole too.” Posted by Pot? Meet kettle. | August 1, 2007 7:00 PM.

Charlie Brown, me.

I am now having a drink.

Watching this gem:

And then going out with two friends who are cooler and smarter (GRE smart, even) than anyone in Seattle.

Josh, I didn't even get a chance to read Slog today, but I saw this at the bottom of your post:

"And then going out with two friends who are cooler and smarter (GRE smart, even) than anyone in Seattle."

Despite how innocent you could be today, all I can say is GET OFF THE FUCKING PEDESTAL, THE WOOD IS NEEDED.

You're really embarrassing.

This has nothing to do with Seattle's wishy-washy racism. The US electorate, the same morons that gave GW Bush a whole lot of votes TWICE, are not going to elect a black man. Sorry, this is just the truth. Come back in 50 years, maybe then it'll be different.

Hillary is another problem. I think the right woman could win. She's not it. The 'conservatives' hate her by definition, and as a bitch who voted for EVERY enabling resolution for this Iraq disaster, and voted for EVERY bill creating, perpetuating, and expanding that constitution-fucking PATRIOT ACT. Thanks a whole fucking bunch, Hillary! You too, Maria Cantwell!

Oh Lord, let it be Dennis Kucinich (oh yeah!) or Ron Paul. Please please I can't stand this slow-motion train wreck!

Ohhhh Boy, sounds like there is going to be some ax grinding tonight.

Feit, if your friends are truly smarter and cooler than anyone in Seattle, they will surely make sure YOU buy the drinks tonight.

Smarter than anyone is Seattle? Hey jerkwad, move if we're too dumb for you. We don't like you either.

Oh please. You're just happy you got noticed by the legitimate press and are going out to celebrate it.

The news team loves the SENSATIONALISM.
When you're told crime is going to SKYROCKET after reading about the BEST song ever, you know it's going to be a REALLY AMAZING night.

Josh, please take solace in the fact that the major reason why I began reading Slog was because of you - despite how olllllld you are and all that ;)

Josh, if you can't stand the heat....

C'mon, dude, you get paid to do this. Getting rebuttals is part of the job.

I didn't screw up your cheat sheet. And the GREs were not that hard.

Agreed with Gomez, Josh. You can only give a considered shit about the noise.

Poor Josh! His most avid reader Joel Connelly criticized him today. Have a drink Josh. Allow your cool friends to tel you how cool you are. After awhile you\'ll believe them. Another thing of note that happened today is Iraqi family members are busily scraping off the streets of Baghdad body parts of their seventy relatives who were blown to fuckan pieces today.

Excerpt from \"Say Yes To War\" by Dan Savage October 2002

\"In the meantime, invading and rebuilding Iraq will not only free the Iraqi people, it will also make the Saudis aware of the consequences they face if they continue to oppress their own people while exporting terrorism and terrorists. The War on Iraq will make it clear to our friends and enemies in the Middle East (and elsewhere) that we mean business: Free your people, reform your societies, liberalize, and democratize... or we\'re going to come over there, remove you from power, free your people, and reform your societies for ourselves\"

(July 2007 Bush wants to sell the Saudis $20 billion in new weapons)

GREs wont show how smart someone is if they are taking them for philosophy or english or any other non analytic subject. It will just show how incapable they are of leaving the academic world to make a living.

Leave Josh alone. He had a hard day, right? So just leave him the fuck alone.

Jeez.

Hey Josh,

Great clip. I always loved the dynamic between Cosell and Ali. For years, Cosell was the only white media guy that ever truly appreciated Ali beyond his boxing skills.

If you get a chance, check out the PBS documentary on Stax Records that aired tonight. Lots of awesome segments of Otis Redding, Booker T & the MGs, Sam & Dave, Isaac Hayes, and some interesting history too.

Josh has a learning problem, he writes like a sheltered boy. I'm sorry you had a tough day Josh, but you really do suck.

Josh Feit, worst stranger writer ever.

From the stranger blurb: Josh supports the WTO.

Whatever. Read a book.

@16: Yeah, what is that "Josh supports the WTO" thing about? I assumed it was a joke I didn't get. I guess I still don't get it.

@1: I've also heard that phrase as "Get off the cross, we need the wood," invoking the vision of unnecessary and showy maudlin suffering. Which reminds me of a phrase I made up in high school when my friends and I were trying to come up with quotes: "You can't be a martyr and bitch about it, too."

Josh is on the cutting edge. He often scoops the other "news sources" in this town and isn't afraid to write a stinging critique of the "progressive" establishment that calls the shots. If you want bland unthinking journalism, then go elsewhere.
Ultimately, it is the writer's responsibility to write hard hitting and thought provoking pieces that stir the pot... which Josh does VERY well. However, it is the reader's responsibility to interpret, process and disseminate his writings. If you can't handle that, and you only want a writer to present what you want to read, then enjoy your Seattle Times.

When are you going to learn, Josh?

If you want to look smart, hang out with dumb people.

@22: I don't doubt Josh's reporting skills. Not Pullitzer-prize winning, but Josh *does* have the ability to write good local political articles, and has often. So it's really disappointing when he regresses back to "whiney I'm-smarter-than-all-of-you-I'm-calling-the-Waaaahmbulance" mode.

it's because people who think they are smarter than everyone else are dissapointed when it doesn't factor in to their job or happiness in general.
