Helping another war hungry Republican take office is more important than enlisting. There will be plenty of time to enlist once this is done. (In more ways than one.)

But we all know that won't happen. They'll serve their country by going on a mission. Or something. Anything but enlisting.

Honestly, what are Romney's odds? I can see him beating Hillary, depending on who she's with. (It would be nice if she paired with Obama, which will never happen. I'd like to see her pair with Richardson, but, you know, nobody likes him but me.) I can see him taking Obama. What's going on with Obama? He's been acting like an idiot for almost a month now.

For some reason I can't shake the feeling that we'll still lose. Bush won. Twice.

Now, the voters who continued to stand behind Bush are going to have to make a decision that will either be a black man or a woman. Keep in mind the way most of our country thinks.

I'm not saying I truly believe we'll lose. I'm just saying I can't exactly say, "We totally got it in '08."

Also keep in mind that the fundie asshats who voted for Bush consider Romney to be part of a cult. His loudest critics come from Evangelical backgrounds, not Democrats.

Without the Christian base that saved Bush's ass, his chances of being elected are slim to none.

Mr. Poe-We could still lose this thing. People are overly confident. Especially if Hillary gets the nom-I think Guiliani would win. Romney, not so sure. I'd like to think that there's no way he could ever win, but given that Bush was elected, I have little faith in the populace to spot a lying scumbag.

@ Mr. Poe: I think that Richardson would be a great secretary of state. His economics and foriegn policy ideas don't strike me as very good, but I think he would definately be great to run matter inside the US.

I do hope Romney gets the nom, because he's the easiest to beat, but don't think the fundies won't vote for him. Some won't, but many of them are happy enough with his policies (anti-abortion, anti gay marriage) that they'd give him their votes in a general election. I just hope that he's transparent enough (and the Dem candidate is strong enough) that the "independent" voters will vote for the Dem.

All the Democrats have to do to win is stay positive. Talk about what you'd like to do, not what you think is wrong. And hammer them on the Constitution; protecting the Constitution from depredation has always been a Republican platform, and it's time to call them on their bullshit in that regard.

Josh Romney should be where his country needs him -- fighting the War on Terror with the Bush Twins, doing belly shots on the bar in Rio.

Why the fuck should his sons have to enlist? Just because their father is running for office doesn't mean they have change the paths of their lives in a cheap/costly attempt to show voters that their father has instilled his ridiculous values in them. Should a candidate's children HAVE TO support their parent? According to Cheney's daughter, no�despite what she says, she's still a lesbian and a parent. Guiliani's daughter doesn't support him�she's voting for Obama.

Also, I know plenty of "hardcore" Republicans that aren't enlisted, for the most part, because they HAVE BETTER JOBS to do than go to Iraq or Afghanistan.

It's a stupid talking point to bring up and the AP should have better things to do. If we want to win (Democrats), we should focus more attention on strengthening our own less-than-rock-solid candidates than wasting time bringing up lame non-sequiturs that voters who haven't decided won't care about. Honestly, what Republican or voter who hasn't made up their mind would really care? Their children probably haven't volunteered either, and they're probably delighted.
