I got mine, but it was a couple of hours late when I heard it thump on the porch. KIRO radio said there was some kind of problem at the printing press.

It's probably referred to at the ole printing press and loading dock as A SHITTY DAY.

Doesn't it amaze you in light of this that these types of schedules are routinely kept? Imagine the process a bit, if you will.

People still actually read printed papers? On ACTUAL paper? What is this, 1980?

from 14-17 years old, i worked in the circulation dept of a small daily in montana. i feel their terrible pain, these poor pi people. some old lady fails to get her daily---or, christ forbid, it's ten minutes late---- and KABAM, it's like a geritol nuke hit you in the balls. never mess with old people's habits. especially their paper ones. for the love of god! never.

It was the gunfight near Green Lake that did it.

I once spent the night sleeping in our distribution department after waiting until 4am and still not being able to print our paper. We ended running our plates up to a neighboring town and ran the paper and then had it trucked back, wherein I was roused by our circ manager around 7 since they were almost back. On top of that we had to wait for it to get there, insert the tons of inserts we had for it and then I helped my manager deliver a route that someone couldn't do as they had a life to get on with. I feel for anyone in this situation. It's ok. It sucks. I could wait. It fascinates me when people get angry (I'm not accusing anyone here). I love the newspaper industry. It's unceasingly fascinating.
