The great influence of another Jackson, grad of a Phila Art institute, last I heard has a brother in Seattle working in the puppet medium. He snarked to me some years ago roundabout visa LA to Bangkok for a registrar to some royal acadamey of science and tech in Melbourne, "Passin through, heheh."

As for the present, a bird just shit on my bookbag walking to this meeting we're having. I'm showing slides of my sketches for the mini-warehouse aspect of our non-profit proposal.

How is this any different from SAM's exhibitions such as 'Transformed by Fire': Sculpture in Glass from the Collection of Becky and Jack Benaroya or 'A Transparent Legacy': Studio Glass Gifted to SAM from the Collection of Jon and Mary Shirley? The same arguements made against the NGA's photography show also apply to these. I'm not trying to question the Shirley or Benaroya's generocity, but you'd have to be blind to not beleive it allows them alot of influence and certainly doesn't hurt their collection value or the notoriety of their pet artists.

This is issue is as old as the concept of an art exhibit. No one's found a real good way yet to separate the money from the influence. Take away the influence.. Ole Benaroya is probably not going to be so inclined to lend and donate work and money to the SAM. So as much as it is an old boys club system.. I'm guessing the benifits usually outweigh the downside... usually...

I can't speak to the SAM shows, but I certainly have no problem with a museum doing an exhibition of gifts it has received from an individual.

Doing a collector-focused show of art you're *not* being given is the problem.

Your google-fu is failing you.

From an article about Bill and Melinda's wedding: "The event was held at the Hawaii home of their friend Robert Jackson."
