Quick! Get Tim Burgess to Iowa!

posted by on August 30 at 14:44 PM

A court in Des Moines has ruled that gays and lesbians must be allowed to marry—clearly Iowa needs some of Tim’s brand of “moral persuasion”!

The comments thread on the article regarding this issue in the Des Moines Register is, predictably, going bat-shit crazy:

And it's only going to get better!

Now all of those hot, sweaty, muscular, corn-fed Iowan men will instantly lose interest in women and start riding me like a mechanical bull.

And all because of this ruling. Some days it's great to be alive.

Wow, Iowa justice spanks Washington on equal rights, who'da thought? Isn't also a red state?
I'm reeling.

Dammit. That's cooler than CALIFORNIA. *shakes fist at Schwarzenegger*

I can't believe Firefox's spell check, corrected my spelling of Schwarzenegger.

Anyway, not to put out a fire with gasoline, but I thought Dan might want this for "being straight doesn't make you a good parent" chronicles.

I worry about this in election year politics. I know that GWB's win is still blamed on the anti-gay "values" voters. I don't want some crap head Republican winning because Iowa has same sex marriage. Also, I don't want to move to Iowa. Come on Washington or Maryland or California or some place that isn't a fly over.

Think about the case making it to the Iowa Supreme Court when just around the Iowa caucus.

Of course, when will there not be an election coming up!

I don't buy it. Something is wrong when Iowa allows gay marriage second in the Union. No way. Nuh, uh... Ain't gonna happen.

Maybe its wrong of me... but when I think of all the poor conservative, same-sex-marriage fear mongers frothing at the mouth because now Bob and Fred down the street can get legally married, it puts a song in my heart. :)

Number 6: Judges here are as progressive as in Iowa, that is, until you get to the Supreme Court.

At least two Superior Court judges upheld gay marriage in Washington, unfortunately, their decisions were overturned on appeal.

Iowa isn't done with this issue, either.
