Mumblecore!

posted by on August 19 at 21:30 PM

The NYT weighs in on mumblecore in an arts feature today.

My favorite bit:

A favorite setting is the party that goes subtly but disastrously astray.

The Northwest Film Forum is doing a series on mumblecore in September.

Weird. I thought I'd read a very similar article. Turns out Andrew Lim is making a name for himself as mumblecore's chief advocate, he wrote about it (and Bujalski) last year, too [nyt].

Either way, I'm glad that NWFF is doing the series, but I'm a little disappointed that they aren't showing Funny Ha Ha or Mutual Appreciation again.

Josh- you have a great line in your birthday blog--

...were swaying, rising, falling, and threatening to swallow-up the lazy adults who stretched out for naps at their periphery and the bold children who ran into the center of their undulating masses. It was a highly photographed art event (kind of disgustingly so).

WTO, anyone? Sounds like a description of the grand ineffective Battle of Seattle.

Some priceless footage though.

I liked Hannah Takes the Stairs alright. Lots of banal humor. Hannah is also hot and very nude throughout.
