Remind me how the first one isn't art?
Variations on the simulacra of the first one can be found easily in the Cascades; a bit of a hike though to get a good vistapoint.
Cameron is awesome. Do you know what the mediums used are? He's done work on some unusual surfaces in the past.
Fact check alert! The Paramount logo is not based on the Matterhorn, but instead on a mountain in Utah. W.W. Hodgkinson (early film distributor and a Paramount founder) based his design on the vista from his childhood home.
Yeah - but what about the 22 stars?
Mr. Hodgkinson may have had that in mind (people in Utah apparently promote is as Mt. Ben Lomond), but I'd bet a more likely case could be made the artist commissioned for the work either made it up, or worked from photos of more famous mountains.
