Aren't you supposed to blur out the license plate? So we can't go on the internets and learn more about the rah-rah asshole?

just let it go.

it will take an economic collapse to change this dipshit's tiny mind.

luckily, there's one coming, and he'll be stuck with hummer payments with gas at $5, $6/gallon.

I've always wanted to stencil "SHORT BUS" on one of those big yellow hummers in black military stencil style.

@ 5: That is exactly what I think everytime I see a big giant hummer/f-250/souped-up muscle car. And in these parts, you see a lot of them...

Real soldiers are dying in their Hummers so this asshole can play one in his.

Actually this guy is doing a public service by loudly announcing that he's an insecure, obnoxious asshole with a tiny little pink mouse penis.

Love how they managed to work 9/11 into the "terrorist hunting permit." Nice reminder of our military's failures.

No doubt he's got to take that thing to the mall over here so he doesn't have to go shopping over there.

No, we need a city government that does not accommodate Hummers (the car!) and other high CO2 footprint vehicles:

-repaint parking spaces to favor Smart cars e- cars and other little cars

--eliminate all or nearly all spaces that are big enough for big fat Hummers

--stop requiring garages to accommodate Hummers

--make HOV lanes prohibit Hummers
--then do the same for other high mileage cars.

Of course, since our dedication to stopping global warming is just lip service, this won't happen. All hail the Automobile!!

for #1:
lets just say he or she(yeah right) had a regular anonymous plate then yeah sure... but this person got a vanity plate so then?? did they not want to advertise themselves as vain, insipid or otherwise prickish, even "quirky" or what-have-you??

What ever you do, don't set it on fire.

Mind you, this vehicle probably pays for the salaries of at least 10 terrorists and their ammo, what with how much Middle Eastern fuel it burns.

Is there a website that let's you plug in a license plate # and you get a name in return?

I'm shocked - shocked! - that this Hummer looks unscathed...seems like a ripe target.

You want to know why that 32 year old is living with his mother while purchasing a $38,000 car he doesn't need?

Watch BBC doc "The Century of the Self."
You can find hour one (of four, all available on Google video) here:

Now now - don't be mean. A hummer doesn't automatically equal a small penis.

It could be that he has a malformed penis, or a poorly functioning one. Or he could have male pattern baldness. Or maybe he's short.

Oh wow, this thing was sitting DIRECTLY outside my office, like 10 feet in front of my face for a good 2 hours today. It just added that last cherry on top of my workplace shit sundae for today. The pictures were taken right outside my office as well, but not by me.

@15,

http://publicinformation.seattle.gov/cpi/ will allow you to look up any sort of parking infractions by, among other things, plate number. You can also look up your friends and neighbors by name and find out who got a drunk & disorderly a few years back.

@11. They'd park there anyways. I can't tell you how many times I've seen SUVs in "compact" spaces...

after watching "who killed the electric car," i really wanted to start a little vigilante group that goes around splashing red paint on hummers... just like fur protesters did to little old ladies in nyc... who's up for it?! let's make seattle a no (vehicular) hummer zone!

FYI, the vehicle is not in that database. I'm glad for that, because acting out on some schmucks' Bohemoth isn't going to accomplish a damn thing. It's childish and an act of impotence.

Anyway, the original letter writer should replace "country" with "world" and he/she would be more accurate.

Stupid people own stupid shit and do stupid shit in every country in the world. The U.S. is just scoring pretty high on that list right now is all.

The hummer drivers here in the US should all be the first to be drafted as drivers for the remaining unarmored humvees left in Iraq or Afghanistan. We'll see just how macho they are (and how well they can drive with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the trigger while scanning for IEDs and dodging mortars and bullets).

Posted by Sweetie | August 22, 2007 9:22 PM

Gomez, dear - don't be such a prig. It's not a matter of "saying anything to his face". That would be both inappropriate and tacky.

After all, it's his (or her) right to drive whatever he/she wants. It's a free country, after all.

And GM is welcome to relieve suckers from their money in whatever legal way they can come up with. Hence, the Hummer.

But it's our right to make fun of his/her compensation issues.

Isn't it neat how it all works out?

Posted by catalina vel-duray | August 22, 2007 9:49 PM
33

But in making your attacks, aren't you in turn compensating for your own psychological inadequacies? He drives a gas guzzler and he's a brazen right-winger. Okay, fine. But everyone here wants to snark to everyone but him, including you.

Who's really compensating then, and for what?

Posted by Ferin | August 23, 2007 3:43 AM

Anyone who drives a Hummer who isn't in Iraq or Afghanistan is a giant asshole.

Posted by JessB | August 23, 2007 6:09 AM

Gomez! You're still being a prig.

First, no one is "attacking" him. You've obviously been watching too much cable news. To attack someone means to harm them physically. All we're doing is making fun of him.

Second, show me someone who doesn't have compensation issues, and I'll show you a corpse. That's the way humans are.

So unclench, dearie. If you're not careful, you're going to end up with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

I'm not convinced the owner of that car isn't just being ironic. Regardless, he is doing a great public service. He is allowing people with monster carbon-footprints like Dan Savage, who flies all over the fucking place and lives in a million dollar home with more bedrooms than residents, to feel self-righteous and morally indignant. You owe this Hummer driver a big thank you.

Posted by tree | August 23, 2007 8:19 AM

There is nothing absolutely wrong with owning a Hummer. It depends on how much you drive it, etc.. To jump on one individual when the problem is really a larger shared one is to get morally picky. Perhaps your flights and the way you drive your car, fart, etc., does more damage to the environment than this guy. Plus I am willing to bet the guy was trying to be funny with these bumper stickers. I don't like singling out individuals for moral indignation for problems where responsibility lies at many different levels. Not to say I would make fun of this guy a bit as well if I knew him as well in an effort to understand him more. And let's face it, making fun of the dick size of Hummer drivers is less original than driving a yellow Hummer.

@ 6 "They've got everything at their disposal in this city to make a statement in a legal way," Fremaux said of the bat-wielding men who struck out at the Hummer. "I consider this a hate crime."

What a fucking idiot

The owner of that Hummer is "hunting terrorists over here" because he knows it's frosting your man-panties. And quite effectively, it would seem.

@11 - the problem w/favoring SmartCars and hybrids in parking lots is that it works against the minivans and SUVs driven by families. I'm all for more hybrid SUVs to accommodate them.

BTW - is this legal? Could TONKA-1 sue for libel or slander? Anyone know?

I think it's time for a Draft.

We should immeadiately draft, with no exemptions, all people who:

A. Drive Hummers (or any other car that gets less than 15 mpg);

B. Anyone with a pro-gun sticker on their car who is not in a military unit;

C. Anyone who defends GWB or the Red Bushies.

If they meet more than one of these they should be immeadiately sent to a combat unit in Iraq as a buck private for a full tour outside the Green Zone.

The Hummer is hardly the worst vehicle on the road. Let's see some photos of 20 year old cars that barely pass emissions. I'd rather sit behind a Hummer than one of those; I suspect less parts will fall off. (OK, so it is a GM and American car, but I still favor it in that bet).

I'm not easily riled by bumper stickers these days - I mostly figure the people with the really ignorant shit like this are just doing a public service by announcing their idiocy to the world at large - but I saw one the other day that pissed me right off. I'm surprised this dork doesn't have it on that Giant Ugly Crapmobile. It said: Fight Terrorism, Shoot A Democrat.

Um. Dumbshit. WE aren't the ones who armed the f***ing terrorists. Thou doth project too much.

highly refreshing to see i'm not the only one who caught that the guy who had his hummer "vandalized" lived with his mother. that guy will never be getting laid again.

all morals aside, you gotta admit, that is one hell of a funny license plate.

i also have to admit, it would be entirely too satisfying to see all those who are pro-war shipped off. of course, they'd probably come back in worse mental shape than the vietnam-ers...
