West Seattle has thus solidified it's forefront position of the "Trashiest Neighborhood In Seattle Award".

It's particularly funny, because Magnolia is wester than West Seattle.

Fuck Queen Anne!

Which mountains have their view from West Seattle ruined by Magnolia? The Ballard Range?

This rivalry is news to me.

Personally, I'd say all Seattle neighborhoods need to focus their animus on the common enemy - the one who sucks up resources that would be better used citywide and where the true center of power in our district-less Council system lies - Downtown.

Viva West Seattle and Fremont secession!

Uhm, pardon ME @4, but you don't have an effin' leg to stand on. EASTLAKE RUNS LAKE UNION. We even have "lake" in our name. Step OFF!

Didn't Denny Hill kind of lose this fight a long time ago and become that big flat spot where we keep all our homeless people when the weather's nice?

Posted by Judah | August 1, 2007 4:09 PM

South Lake Union runs Lake union suckers!

We even have the whole "Lake Union" in our name!

There are neighborhoods west of Capitol Hill?

Posted by NaFun | August 1, 2007 4:15 PM

Yeah, downtown is the problem with all their "jobs" and "infrastructure" that affect our "economy".

Posted by Bellevue Ave | August 1, 2007 4:22 PM

@ 9 Yeah but people don't actually live in South Lake Union! If we're going to get technical, might as well go so far as to say the people in the houseboats on Lake Union rule Lake Union.

With 98106, 98116, 98126, and 98136 vs. little old 98199, it's hardly a fair fight you're proposing.

98146 and 98166 vs. 98109 and 98119 would make for a sweet high-ratings tag-team match, though. A modern Grease of sorts.

It is not West Seattle vs Magnolia, it is locals vs newcomers. If you did not at least go to high school in the city limits of Seattle, you ain't shit. All you fuckers from somewhere else, shut the fuck up and try on a new neighborhood.

Locals only 4 ever!!!!!!!

That is all.

All I know is that Magnolia has a lot more residential underground electric service than West Seattle does.

Shouldn't that count for something?

Locals arent winning that battle with the Newcomers. Locals can't afford housing, can't get good jobs, and worst of all won't ever try a new place out that will better cater to them.

Civil unrest in the Emerald City!!
I can see it now (and the image is enough to drive one to drink non-micro brewery beer).
Neighborhood gangs (mostly homeowner associations and yoga circles) from various parts of the city, each wearing their distinctive color of Gore-Tex wind breakers, rampaging through rival neighborhoods (but only during reasonable hours, of course) on pimped out low-rider ten speeds, challenging their rivals to recycling contests and bouts of showdown hackeysack, hurling insults ("we're more carbon neutral than you, mo'fuckers!"), spraying insulting graffiti ("Magnolians eat farm raised salmon!!") in washable paint on approved "Post Insulting Graffiti Here" billboards, while helpless city officials hold an ecumenical, gay/lesbian/transsexual-friendly, vegan-only prayer breakfast followed by workshops, discussion groups, and a free spay/neuter clinic!

Keepin' it on the DL with my peeps in E. Magnolia. Off with your head Queen Anne; you sold out my peeps, bee-yatch. West Seattle? I don't think so. The rush toward hipster home ownership annoys me.

locals do have good jobs, and can and do afford descent housing...even own their own homes, you stupid f* post 32. where the f* are you from? and what's up with people who live in burien/federalway/kirkland/auburn/ etc thinking they live in seattle? f"ing losers who couldn't even hack the pouser SoCal scene moving to Seattle and thinking they're special... how sad. You're still the same lame-ass-fake-thinking-you-have-money, and thinking that counts for something LOSERS tht you were before you moved here. go back to where you came from. and don't move into the south end and ruin it for me. stay on magnolia, with your crappy Albertsons and subway sandwiches, your tacky big houses and crappy 1965 apartment buildings. I'll sit back and laugh as you wrap yourself in your cocoon of false safety.
