God damn it that was beautiful.

I've been meaning to pick up "An Evening with Kevin Smith 2" but I haven't gotten around to it. I bet it only costs $9.95 or some such at this point. I think it was at Target for about a week in the New Releases and they never even archived it into the A-Z section for later sales.

I hate Kevin Smith, but that was kind of amazing.

That was a great question for Kevin Smith, who's movies totally fucking suck ass.

Great comeback against the heckler, but the heckler was right on point.

My favorite Kevin Smith movie is Dogma, and that was still hopelessly flawed. Mallrats is the worst piece of shit ever put to film.

Whoa whoa whoa... I'm not gonna defend Kevin Smith because I could give a shit if you like him, but saying Mallrats is the "worst piece of shit ever put to film," well that's just wrong.

Glitter, From Justin to Kelly, anything starring the Olsen Twins... c'mon... there's worse shit than Mallrats.

The world would be a wonderful place if Mallrats was as bad as movies got.

God bless you Megan Seling. God ... bless ... you.

The first joke was lame but the rest were gold. In all seriousness, with the exception of the Jersey trilogy - was anything worth two shits? I almost wish he hadn't made any other films..

Say what you want about Kevin Smith's movies, but the guy is fuckin' funny on his own. Rent the two 'Evening with Kevin Smith' DVDs, they're worth it.

There are tons of movies that are worse than Mallrats.... like Jersey Girl.

defending someone's films by saying there are worse films, just isn't really saying a whole lot.

Ugh @10, ok then...

Clerks may have been "over praised" (in Smith's own words) but was a great film nonetheless. It nailed the working-class geek zeitgeist like nothing else I've seen. Chasing Amy remains one of my favorite films ever, in spite of Ben Affleck, and that's one hell of a handicap to overcome.

Compare Dogma to fare like Evan Almighty to appreciate what a brilliantly on-target religious satire it is, despite it flaws.

Even Mallrats, for all the shit it gets, was decent. I think its biggest problem really is that it came after Clerks and failed to get near the high bar set by that film.

Don't hold your breath for me to defend anything post-Dogma, though.

Wait until you see Reaper this fall--I think it's on one of those loser networks, like the CW. I've seen the pilot and it KICKS ASS.

Is he really making a horror film called Red State, or was that one of the jokes?

This is basically what living in New Jersey is like.

This northwest passive-aggressive shit just doesn't compare to a good ol' northeast slam.

@13: Yeah, he really is making a horror film called Red State.

@ 9: True that. No matter what you think of the movies, the "Evening with Kevin Smith" DVD's have some of the most hilarious shit ever put to film.

I love Kevin Smith. With all his mistakes and all his glory, he is still one of my favorite directors.

And Mallrats kicks ass.

Lostboy-

I'm with ya on pre- and post-Dogma. I think your assessment is right on. Though I personally liked Dogma more than Chasing Amy- I just had a hard time believing he could be such a nice guy and yet freak the fuck out about her...

...polyhetero resume. But KS likes to have guys freak out about their girlfriends' sexual histories.

As the original cameraman on this video (which I am), I have to say that this guy actually flashed his boobs to the audience as he was walking away. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get that shot, because when I turned my head he was lowering the shirt.

The fact remains that this guy asked a question with the intent to get harassed by the man he set out to heckle. Anyone who knows Smith's live routine, knows he'll dish it right back if someone attacks him...it was one of those moments I was so glad I was there live for...however the amount of hits I'm getting is pretty fucking insane....god if only my original work could get so many!...lol.
