I Love My Gay Brothers…

posted by on August 16 at 9:28 AM

But that doesn’t mean they don’t occasionally do things that make me wince, like kill and eat their tricks, or name their gay-day groups Feather Boa Fathers, or, uh, this:

They’re called Bear Force 1. They’re from Holland. I have nothing more to add, except my appreciation of their ability to cram every song a gay person has ever liked into one hairy medley.

(Thanks to Hot Tipper Keith, who sent me the Bear Force 1 video back on Monday, when I was too busy to Slog it; today, I saw it again on MetaFilter, and decided to do my duty.)

awwww they're so cute in their pastels and khakis....

But, I thought bears were supposed to be fat and hairy.... Since when did being bald and having a bit of facial hair make you a bear?

I think its great, sure I could only stadn to watch about half of it but it's enough to make me wish I were a gay boy instead of a marginally straight woman

This video has appeared in my inbox at least 15 times this week, and yet I keep watching it. Too funny!

Sort of a wispy cast of bears, no?

I'd call those otters, not bears.

I'd say, off hand, that there's one bear (the shortest one), two wolves (the ones with defined muscles and pecs) and one otter (the skinniest one) but otters and wolves and cubs are subsets of "Bear" anyway. So yeah, I'd say they're bears, cuz they're not twinks or A&F fags or even hipster gays!

@12 Thanks for the help with my nomenclature, but you ruined my idea for their new band name: Otter Erotic Asphyxiation.

The original bear back in the 70's were a bit in shape with facial and body hair.
Peace

Totally tacky. And I just had Sylvester's You Make Me Feel stuck in my head.

At least the dude in the pink is kind of cute.

the weekly had this posted a couple days ago... is that why you included the disclaimer: "(Thanks to Hot Tipper Keith, who sent me the Bear Force 1 video back on Monday, when I was too busy to Slog it; today, I saw it again on MetaFilter, and decided to do my duty.)"?

Actually, I included the disclaimer about Hot Tipper Keith because it was factual.

Believe it or not, I get very little of my gay-related news from the Weekly's music blog.

You know you're in need of a real life when you start openly whining (@ 6) or boasting (@ 17) about how many other blogs you read.

wow. just, well... wow.

The leaping high five at the top of the steps is where i lost it. There is no way i can safely laugh harder than that.

ugg. i so don't get the bear thing. i'm all fine with body hair, and liking manly things, but they seem to celebrate being over weight. that is not my thing. anorexia is obviously a big deal in the gay community, and god knows i've had some eating disorders, but over eating is an eating disorder as well. maybe we shouldn't encourage people in that.

Being a gay man I have to put up with crap like this all the time. It ends up representing me, which sucks!
Unfortunately most of gay culture is like this.
I am sooooo happy to hate this.

I can't wait until they put this in constant rotation upstairs at the Cuff, putting the final nail in the coffin of Seattle's gay nightlife.
