Wow, thank you for exposing the hideous truth that there are regions that are DIFFERENT than the good old Pacific Northwest, where we are enlightened poiticaly, socialy and liberally!
Obviously these other regions have nothiing to ofer us in terms of any positive attributes. I once heard that the South claims som ekind of interesting history with real Black peopl ? Or music? Or spome kind o food? Or funny story tellers or seomthing? Anyway these rumors of having a specific "culture" that is "regional" obvioul are all a load of lutefisk, and the Paciic Northwest styl of humor, music, food, and culture is the Best because we are the Nicest People in the World (except of course when we discuss other peoples who do not have the wisdom to move here, too!)
And of course none of the little old NC cultural attributes mentioned could be foun here in our region, because everyone from Cle Elum to Issaquah to Capitol Hill is exactly the same and just like everyone who reads the Stranger!
We LOVE PETA and we woul dNEVER MAKE FUN of it - that's not nice! In fact, allhumor is NOT NICE, that's why our form of humor (nonexistent) is the best!

And special points to making fun of the South. Yucky, yucky South, totally worthless! Certainly glad that here in the Pacific Northwest we NEVER We were nice! Just ask around down in Tacoma how they dealt with the chinks, er Chinese !
So thank you for touting our own horn again, in a nice, subliminal, understaed, inferential kind of way, just our style!
Doubtless this is due to our Skandi heritage, everyon knows the Vikings NEVER EVER did anything wrong to anyone esp. those 20,000 Irish gals they offered to "mary" and give an expense paid lifelong trip to Iceland!

@10/18 I've lived here (and elsewhere in the state) for ten years, and I guess Charleston's probably really nice if you're rich enough to own a home on the Battery and are a fan of Thomas Kinkade galleries and restored plantation gardens.
