@1, no one can understand his confusion.

Once an empire has collapsed, no one bothers to put out the fires anymore, they are the losers, let them be lost in the annals of history. We clearly have nothing to learn from them.

I think the issue here is that you're trying to use your history courses to make sense of something that would be better understood through your chemistry or biology courses.

The burning of Ancient Grecian ruins is just a harbringer for the attempted destruction of America by the Red Bushies, who followed the ancient Romans in their lust for empire and their lack of common sense.

Except they hung traitors in Rome or poisoned them in Greece - we let ours "resign due to family committments" after a few years torturing people.

Greece, like Rome, was a slave state.

Well then, it's your own fault for being ignorant about modern-day Greece and not caring about the people there. The sources are out there- you could, theoretically, educate yourself.

Goi history so called "western civilization" is a chimera constructed to confuse Christian idiots. Ancient greece was a bunch of slave owning fags who oppressed Jews.

The Torah is the only real history and it illuminates the present with profound meaning. The goi have nothing, they come from nothing and will return to nothing. Only the people of the Torah will evolve to see the face of g-d.

I can't figure out which is less likely...

that a radical Jewish Supremicist reads this blog and feels that an assertion of Jewish Supremacy is germane to this topic whatsoever, or that someone would write that comment ironically out of the fucking blue.

It’s an Iranian plot—payback for the invasion of Alexander the Great 2300 years ago. The Iranians burnt the Parthenon 2500 years ago, so it’s not like they don’t have a track record on these things.

Did Socrates' trail cut through someone's yard? What was the big deal?

Asserting the power of Jewish history is germane to a discussion of so called "Western Civilization". Greek history is taught as the incubator of what is best in Western culture. That's rubbish.

As Jews we must remember The Torah is our true history and has meaning for every moment of our lives.

Pity the poor goi. No matter how long you study Plato it's all children's games compared to Kabbalah!

I guess I have to look up "goi" too. Wow. I learn so much here...new words like skag, cum dumpster and goi! My cat will be so proud of me!

Okay, there were too many gois to choose from. I don't know what a goi is...help???

Kristin, I think Issur is using 'goi' as an abbreviation of 'goyim', a term for a non-Jew or Gentile. It can be insulting or not, depending on context. 'Goy' has a ton of other meanings as well, but I'm pretty sure that's the one he's referring to at the moment. Hope that helps.

It's a fire. It doesn't have an agenda, it just is what it is, a fire. Hopefully it can be put out before it destroys historically significant sites. Rest easily, Charles. It is beyond your control. Pray for those whose lives were lost during the conflagration.

It's not funny.

Any of this.

Grow up, people. Innocent people are dying from these fires. Not an occasion for you to show how cool, smart, ironic, or witty you are.

It's not something to be made light of.
