George Patterson Arrested Again

posted by on August 1 at 11:50 AM

George Patterson, the wheelchair bound man who accused SPD officers Greg Neubert and Michael Tietjen of misconduct during an arrest last January, has been arrested again. On drug charges.

From the PI:

George Troy Patterson, 27, was arrested just after 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Bell Street, according to a Seattle police report.

According to the report, Seattle police and agents with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service set up a joint buy-bust operation in Belltown as part of an effort to curb drug dealing to sailors visiting the area as part of the SeaFair Fleet Week.

Patterson allegedly sold undercover officers and NCIS agents several rocks of crack cocaine for $75 after being introduced to them as a dealer. He was immediately arrested by NCIS agents, who found the cash, the serial numbers pre-recorded, still in his hand.

You mean he really is a drug dealer? Shocking!

Not the first time that Seattle police have gone after Patterson since he filed an OPA complaint. Maybe he's guilty in this case, maybe not. But there's no doubt that every cop in this city knows who George Patterson is, and that they've marked him for payback.

i don't care if he's guilty this time, or in the past, or if he's marked (though that is very close to troubling). i care when police feel they need to plant evidence in order to get a conviction. george patterson being guilty twenty-times over does not justfy him being framed once. just get him legally.

Still it is the "procedure" that was violated not the fact that he is a drug dealer. Everyone from that area is almost certain that he sells drugs, he was caught in this suposedly independent sting, so he deserves to go to jail, hopefully, for a long, long time. However, the trust of the SPD and internal review process is the issue here since it is virtually impossible to rebute the claims of a police officer in court. The events throughout 2007 really puts the whole foundation of our criminal process into question.

Maybe he is such a good drug dealer that everyone witnesses him selling crack but somehow, in the way he does it, he can never get caught. Does that make it justifiable to (possibly) plant evidence on him in order to get him of the streets? Does the end justify the means? I imagine almost everyone would say no.

Whew! I and I was scared there wasn't some mitigating factor, justifying SPD's civil rights violations.

All clear! It was a false alarm, Kerlikowski. Instruct your men to return to plan A. Operation Beat The Non-Whites is back in effect.

Go Navy. Belltown is spared, if only temporarily, the burden of another susepected Crack Dealer.
The block between 1st and 2nd on Bell has really gotten bad lately in terms of drug dealing and it is good to something being done.

It's the Navy that's the problem here. Between the shooting at Tabella and this, they are a menace!

Well, doesn't that just shoot the Patterson Was Framed angle in the foot?

Now, does that change the fact he was previously framed? No, but this arrest lends great credibility to the allegation that he's a crack dealer. He's all but guilty at this point.

Jurors make terrible jurors.

So they tried to frame the guy a second time, this time with the help of NCIS? What is this guy doing wandering 2nd and Bell at night? You'd think that after being framed by the police that he'd keep a low profile Downtown if he were innocent. I probably wouldn't wander the streets randomly if I knew cops wanted to frame me for dealing drugs.

You know what would solve this problem? Installing speakers at 2nd and Bell and piping in more of The White Man's Music™.

The only question was "when?".

And the problem is evidently not Nickels anymore ... it must be George W Bush?

I wish they would bust the buyers, too. They're the ones driving the market for this shit.

@18
They'll never do that. They might be able to afford real lawyers.

@4- Wow, you're right. I sure hope he goes to jail for "a long, long time" because that'll solve the problem. He was the only guy capable of selling crack so now no one will be able to get any until he's back out of jail. Luckily, for that service we as taxpayers only have to pay $24,000 a year to keep him incarcerated!

Sure, he's a dealer, he got busted, crack is bad. How about we look at addressing the real problem rather than pretending that the world is a better place because another bed is filled in our prison.

The police oversight system is broken, so is the war on drugs. How many people could get help with that $24K?
