Man Mountain

posted by on August 22 at 15:50 PM

As challenge to this:

Man wants to build this:
xseed-0-1.jpg.

Inspired by Mount Fuji, Taisei Construction Corporation [in Japan] has completed designs for construction of the world’s tallest building. The X-Seed 4000 (no idea where that came from) would stand at approximately 13,123 feet (4 km), nearly 700 feet (213 m) taller than the real Mount Fuji. The next tallest buildings don’t even break 2,000 feet, how puny… the X-Seed would have up to 800 floors, and be capable of housing between 500,000 and 1,000,000 people.
It will never happen, but not to dream is not to be human.

The Discovery Ch show, "Extreme Engineering" did an episode all about this. It was pretty cool.

Wow, that is so sci fi ala 1984 or Blade Runner (the movie). I'm surprised the U.S. government isn't all over that - it looks like the new "Ministry of Secrets" or something.

I agree with Charles, it will never happen. It is cool that people drew up plans for it and all though, kinda a supreme version of how I used to draw way rad skateparks on my book covers in Jr. High.

Be fun watching it after an earthquake causes it to catch fire.

Put aside architectural style and human habitat concerns for a second and consider the sheer quantity of raw resources required to build such a thing. Since its structure will be made of a consistent material, presumably steel, consider how many real mountains would be destroyed in such a pursuit.

Impressive indeed.

It has to happen, so Blade Runner can come true.

Beyond the massive environmental impact that no doubt would be negative that would have I would love to see us build something like that.

We do not build truly amazing and truly beautiful, useful structures that are built to last the ages. No more former Roman Forums or Parthanon's. Now we get King Domes we blow up in less than a generation......

Civilization is in decline...enjoy the collapse.

I'd love to see that thing on Broadway, where the old QFC used to be, to help us get rid of the meth heads and other addicts on that street.

I think "X-Seed 4000" means "Exceed 4,000 meters," referring to the building's height.

So lame.
