Ainít No Crater Low Enough

posted by on August 10 at 10:51 AM

So Iíve been watching a bunch of 80ís grossout TíníA comedies lately, in preparation for next weekís commendably filthy Superbad. Occasional parachute pants overload aside, itís been a surprisingly enjoyable experience, ranging from the pneumatic Shannon Tweed highs of Hot Dog: The Movie! to the bleak Bergman lows of The Last American Virgin. (That ending! In the car! With the rain! And the James Ingram! Jesus Christ!) After what I witnessed this morning, though, I think Iím done. This Ö thing just canít be topped, or bottomed.

The movie in question? 1979ís King Frat, a Canadian Animal House ripoff about a farting contest where the participants run the risk of getting disqualified for (god forgive me) ďdrawing mudĒ. In anticipation of your question: Yes, the climactic bout is available on YouTube, and no, you really shouldnít watch it, at work or otherwise.

So, anyway, my questions: Has anyone out there even heard of this thing? Any examples of particularly crass highlights from other movies in the genre? Will the theme song (“King Frat! King Fraaaat!”) ever leave my head? Am I going to hell? Will this be showing when I get there?

I loved Superbad , but it wasn't exactly superbad. Most of the 'bad' content is all dialogue. Still, it's super fucking awesome.

McLovin steals the movie.

I haven't seen any of them, but IMDB recommends:

-Fraternity Vacation
-The Seniors

Superbad was totally cool last night. My son Ian, the target audience (16 yo boys and girls), loved it. I thought it was pretty good and enjoyed it, but the fat guy was way too filthy. He needs a brain transplant.

Plus, the running stuff was cool.

80's t-n-a? Tasteless?
Not much beats a liquid fart, but

Voyage of the Alien Rock Stars is worth tracking down.
Top Secret! is kind of fun
Porky's, but that's a given
But if you are looking for over the top, one search term will do it: "Troma". 'Tromeo and Juliet' is quite tasteless in a good Bad Movie way, but its not 80's.

oh, and McLovin is THE cool character.

I am so getting a t-shirt with his driver's license on it.

Super Bad was better than Porky's and way more realistic. Top Secret! was cool.

Hot Dog the Movie! was my favorite movie in middle school. I'm going to look for it on dvd today!

Hard to find, but worth it: Hardbodies. A cool dude shows a 40-something Greg Bradyish guy how to score with teenage chicks by teaching him obsolete California slang. Like an 80's Pygmalion!

There's always Zapped, in which horny teenager Scott Baio gains the power to telekinetically remove women's shirts while horny best friend Willie Aames watches in horny delight. It was the first rated-R movie my sister and I were allowed to watch. Thanks Mom & Dad!

The Party Animal is one of my favorites. It is all about a guy named Pondo Sinatra who's only goal in life is to get laid. It is AWESOME!!
