It's not a big place, but it has a kind of density and substance that I never feel in the West. If you're on the hunt for money and class I'd argue that any horse track is the wrong place to do it in 2007. If you're looking to bet on horses and hang out with people who are compelled to do the same, go to Emerald Downs. It's awesome. Make sure you catch the bugler.

Alternately, go to any of the big casinos during a big race anywhere in the country for otb fun and atmosphere.

I say head down to California - go to Del Mar, Hollywood Park, or Santa Anita...

Better yet - head off to Kentucky, have a Mint Julip, a bourbon ball, and enjoy the great horses, high wagers, and all the fun.
