Youthful Indiscretions

posted by on July 4 at 12:27 PM

Al Gore’s son—Al Gore III—was pulled over for speeding in California and… well, let’s just go to the report:

Al Gore’s son was pulled over for speeding on a California freeway early Wednesday and arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph south on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over by sheriff’s deputies who said they smelled marijuana, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

The deputies searched the car and found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, Amormino said. “He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs,” Amormino said.

But, hey, at least he was driving a Prius.

I was driving a 2006 Prius on I-5 for a few hours yesterday, and the mileage drops precipitously between 74 MPH and 80 MPH -- like, ~50 MPG to ~25 MPG. I didn't try going much faster than 85.

While 100 mph does reduce the gas mileage significantly, thumbs up to little Al for the small carbon footprint.

Sigh. Legalize it...just legalize it. C'mon already.

@2 - 25mpg!?!? It's worse than I thought! He was burning a gallon of gas every 15 minutes. Criminals like that should be kept off of the highway.

Who the hell can drive 100 mph while high?

the worst part of this is the ammo that it gives to the Ann Coulters of the world.

I can add Al III to the other Prius owners who make me glad to have bought the Civic hybrid instead.

I am sure that the Bush Daughters have done much worse. But look who daddy is? We would never hear about it

Our two-Prius* household featured the following:

Husband**: Al Gore III was pulled over for DUI in a Prius. Going over 100 miles an hour.

Jen: Feeling good about your car?

Husband: YEAH!!!!

*A 2002 and a 2004.

**Husband does not go more than 4 miles over the speed limit. Ever. He gets tense when I stay with the flow of traffic on exit ramps instead of slamming on the brakes to get to the posted 25MPH.

What a wonderful meaningless distraction this will be to the many, many retarded among us.

Unless Al immediately calls for his son to be jailed he can't run....they'll say he's soft on drugs.

I'm not sure of the significance of this. Al III is 24 - an adult. Does this make Al Gore look bad? No. Should it? Absolutely not.

I'm sure Ann Coulter will have some choice comments on the Gore parenting. She would make a wonderful mother if she could find someone to reproduce with. But that whole killing-your-mate-and-eating-him after sex thing turns most men off.

Wow! Who'd of thunk a Prius could go 100.

@17: Ann Coulter mating? Ewww. I thought she was the only velociraptor left in existence.

Wow, shocking. Another spoiled rich kid who's too old to be doing dumb crap like this. They come in all shapes and sizes, and political parties.

It matters what the jerkoff was driving, why?

It's going to be a pretty lame "wild oats" story. "Dude, remember when we got all high and drove the prius at 100 miles an hour..." Wow Al, you're a party animal..

I wish to remind everyone out there the cardinal rule when operating in the public sphere, "Only break one law at a time". So Al III, next time you are packing illegal drugs (or drugs that could be legal if you have a script but don't) & are operating a motor vehicle: Buckle Up, check those tailights, registration & proof of insurance in the glove box, no open containers, drive the posted speed limit, etc, etc.

@21 Seconded. I did all manner of horrible things in high school, and I never got caught. If I ran for office (an impossibility, considering what a whore I was in college), I'd have old friends and acquaintances coming out of the woodwork talking about all the drugs I did, and one one occasion, sold. But because I was such a good boy in all other aspects, I never got caught with a sheet of blotter in my wallet.

And again I just love how the tv news reports on this. Never telling us if he was pulled over just for speeding or if he was dui/high at the same time. They made it out like the police already knew about the stuff he had before getting pulled over.

Anyway, dumb guy.
