Where the Senator Eats

posted by on July 9 at 11:44 AM

I took myself out to dinner at Tavolata last night. I had the (gigantic) serving of garden greens and the agnolotti with brown butter and sage; it was all very salty. I was disappointed, though this might largely be due to the fact that I went specifically craving the agnolotti filled with veal brains, but it was not on the menu. Sigh. (Why can’t the veal brains be on the menu all the time?) I had to try and find satisfaction with a ricotta and leek filling. I was doomed from the beginning.

More exciting, I spotted Senator Maria Cantwell there dining with friends. She’s a babe.

Veal brains? Really. Wow. I don't know, just . . .

Veal brains?

Was she plucking her beef?

sitting by the front window when it's wide open is a great seat to sit in. nice big counter, too. not squeezed in as an afterthought.

One more vote for Maria (tasty!) and against veal brains (disgusting).

Was it French Food, you know since she has already capitulated to Bush on the War once this year....

veal brains are good, but the house made ricotta/mozzarella dishes are where it's at!

veal brains are no more disgusting than veal flesh

Not to mention the fact that you're taking food out of the mouths of zombie cows everywhere. For shame!

Are you actually trying to get a prion disease? Never eat brains! The cannibals of new guinea have learned that lesson, and the cow eating people of Britain have too.

I hear the dog ass is pretty good there.

Mudede did a piece on the dog ass. I can't seem to find the link. He loved it.

I'm totally not bbqing veal brains for you tomorrow.

Maria voted for every pro-Iraq-war, and pro-Patriot-act
bill put under her nose. Calf brains would be an upgrade.

I am delighted that most of the taco trucks up here in Seattle serve "tacos de sesos," or brain tacos. Democrat or Republican, anyone with a discriminating palette will tell you that nothing beats a soft salty brain taco with a bottle of tamarindo soda. Buen aprovecho!

nope. not a babe. war is ugly.

The food at Tavolata is super yummy but the service was questionable.

I sat through brunch at the Sunlight Cafe on Roosevelt wishing I were rude enough to demand that she vote to bring the troops home. I wasn't getting my rocks off, she's a public servant, not Jessica Biel.

She was eating crow.

Two cows standing in a field. One says
to the the other, "Have you heard about this Mad Cow disease going around?" The other replies, "No, I haven't. I'm a car."

I had dinner for the first time there, sitting in the aforementioned window seats Friday night with two of my best friends. Good food, great service (Erik the cute bartender - i'm hoping he plays on my gay team), friends walking by and stopping in for a drink or three with us. The combination of all this on a warm Seattle summer night was heaven.

Is everything you write about the latest disgusting food you have eaten? Give it a rest.
