Have you guys been following the Jena 6 story? Six black students in Jena, Louisiana charged with attempted second degree murder for an assault on a white student; the white student was so little injured that he went to a “social event” that same evening. Also, did I mention the three nooses hung from a ‘whites only’ shade tree to warn black students away from sitting there that the school district dismissed as a prank?
Here’s the link to the NPR story.
And here’s the link to the Friends of Justice page.
This just in: White people suck.

Where's that NPR link?
Saying white people suck is like saying black people suck. It's a silly statement with zero thought or truth behind it. But you can't say mean people suck because that bumper sticker is for cocksuckers.
Cocksuckers suck.
"Our town is not a bunch of bigots. They're Christian, law-abiding citizens that wouldn't mistreat anybody."
I love that people think being Christian is a point against being a bigot. And the KKK were, what, a bunch of atheists?
Good freaking lord. :(
Forgiveness is a pretty big part of the whole Christianity thing. That's why my religion embraces revenge.
The story would be mind-blowing, but being set in the South makes it much less so.
The most telling part of the story:
White guy brandishes an illegal weapon at 3 black guys
3 black guys wrestle it away from him, he runs away.
White guy is not charged, black guys are charged with felony theft ~ of the gun...
Agian so few comments on Slog when white people do wrong. Thanks for posting this anyway.
I've been hearing about this for months. I wanna wave it in the faces of all the idiots who tell me that racism in America is gone.
I read about this in the P-I a couple weeks ago, but check out their blog: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/soundoff/comment.asp?articleID=324177
Just read the npr link, what the fuck is wrong with the USA?, seriously?
whites and blacks dont speak to each other in high school?, is it still the 40s down there?
@11: It's the South that's the problem, really.
