Do you feel the way you do after the risotto?
"And if you're wondering where her mom/publicist/lawyer/friend/ANYONE was to help her out, we're told that even her cousin Alli (who until recently was working as her personal assistant) couldn't deal, and is "done" with Miss Spears."
Big surprise there. Nobody wants to be around a stuck up, coked up, fucked up selfish bitch.
I just spent 10 horrifying minutes at tmz. Holy crap. It sucked my brain nearly dry.
I feel your pain, but after a couple of times (like most things) you get used to it. It usually helps if you hit your head before you start reading. You should also hum one of your current favorite songs. You won't need to dedicate full attention anyway. If you can do this successfully, your brain will be totally blase about it.
LOL! Fat America! No shit!! I just compare the guys at Neighbors, The Cuff, Purr and compare that to what I saw when I first moved here in 1995. The difference? About 15 pounds per guy is the difference.
And I thought us homos were supposed to take care of ourselves???
Thanks Mr. Poe -- much safer than my original plan of sticking red-hot knitting needles into my eyeballs then setting myself on fire.
..meanwhile.. the local fox news q13 is reporting that there was a shooting last night outside 'the satelite lounge nightclub'.. and they go on to report this as further evidence of an escalation of local nigthclub violence, tying it in with the shooting at tabella's a few weeks ago. they also call it a captiol hill shooting.. at least they're gettin the nighborhood right
that risotto looks downright NARSTY.
@ The Reverend; I hate to bring this up but a couple of months ago on Slog I suggested after some people were complaining about some of the pricks who go to Club Lagoon who were gay bashing on Cap Hill that we should set up a protest on a Saturday night in front of that club. The response was a deafening silence.... *cricket sounds*.
So I am content just to let the violence spiral upward and hope that it stops at some point.
I agree. It looks like somebody had a fun time with it...in more ways than one.
Risotto rocks. I like coarsely grating zucchini into it - instead of dicing it - it basically disappears but still imparts its flavor. Lemon juice is a good idea.
For @8, @10 - it looks like normal tasty risotto to me - what should it look like? It's just cooked rice.
more importantly, that zucchini appears to have been overcooked. shame.
When do we get an all-atheist town? What should we call it?
Risotto is one of my favorites; I think I'll make that tonight. Thanks!
And if plastic grocery bags are banned, how am I going to dispose of my cats' poo?
Satellite Lounge Nightclub
So, is the new definition of nightclub going to be, "any establishment where someone gets shot at 2:00 a.m."?
In that case, all those 24-hour convenience store nightclubs better start shaping up - or else!
@5 - the 15 pounds is the difference between untreated HIV and normal. But that's just what those of us who've been to lots of funerals and memorials for friends think.
@ Will, and here I thought the beer guts and double chins were due to over eating.....
Will, I love you right now.
You notice how CNN says the data is based on "self-reporting" - and doesn't mention that the definition of "obese" was lowered in 1998? Notice also the big jump in "obesity" between 1997 and 2007?
When you redefine "obese" to include more people, golly gee wilkers, we have more obese people! Nobody even had to gain a pound!
According to the CDC, the mean (average) weight of 19yr olds has increased 10-15lbs since the 1970s. For 20-74yr olds, it's a 20lb increase (and about 1 inch height increase) since the 70s. The "Conclusions" in the PDF reports this as a "dramatic increase". Personally, I don't think 10-20lbs qualifies as "dramatic". But then, I'm not trying to get funding from Weight Watchers, or to sell advertising to Jenny Craig.
@ JenK. For each increase in height you are allowed to add around 7 or so pounds. 20 pounds (or so) that is some heft. Plus, we have a dramatic increase in type 2 diabetees as well and even the real scientific studies make the CNN self poll look rather sedate and honestly quite optimistic.
I know that people get really pissed off about comments relating to weight gain but it is a reality that much of it is related to choices (like smoking) but as people will scold others about smoking how many of us will look at someone over weight and say "Gee, do you really need to have that chocolate cake?"
We are so damn worried about hurting people's feelings that we are ignoring the health risks of being obese.
@ Will, we are looking at weight gain not the positive results of better drug treatments. Frankly your comment sounds like if a gay guy is overweight in Seattle they must be HIV+. (seriously re-read what you wrote)
But Cato, look at what you wrote @5. You make it sound as if there is an evenly distributed 15 pounds per gay, across the board. Plus you were 12 years younger (younger) in '95 -- age commonly adds weight to men.
I'm just sayin'.
@22, you demostrated my last point to Will perfectly!
Damn you, Cato!
But I still like a nice AIDS jab now and again, so I'm still on Will's side.
Cato @21 - The diabetes treatment guidelines have also been adjusted. People are being treated now for diabetes and pre-diabetes who previously would not have been.
Note, I'm not saying that is a bad decision. I just note that the message could be, "More people are being treated for diabetes!!!" or "We've become more aggressive in how we treat diabetes. We're identifying and treating people now who would have been classified as "healthy" before."
Which would you choose?
In good news: a 1-inch increase in height in only 30 years! Nice job, everyone. We're well on our way to morphing into a race of physically domineering supermen.
I made the risotto for dinner tonight. Too pasty (I'm a bad cook), but the taste was good.
