Mmm. We used to dredge our squash blossoms in spiced flour and quickly fry them. Dee-licious.
And of course Starbucks is raising their prices. You can tell by their constant and horrific expansion that they're hurting for money. It will be $6 coffee eventually. I've been traveling to NYC quite regularly this year, and like most places, there's a Starbucks everywhere you turn. The difference between here and there seems to be that the stores I see in New York are busy all day, every day. There aren't better alternatives like there are here (insert your favorite local coffee vendor). Personally, I'm trying to wean myself off the fancy coffee.
My hunch is that Delay was really thinking of Black people...
@ Giffy, I agree, the white kids would NEVER work in the fields or do hard work. Delay just thinks that aborted white fetus' are just lost votes for the GOP.
More likely the aborted fetuses would have grown up to be felons.
I'm happy that squash blossom is regularly available from Alvarez farms at the Broadway Farmers Market. Now if I could only find huitacochle I could make a squash blossom and huitacochle omelet. (Available at the River Cafe in Puerto Vallarta).
I love it when these sick fuckos (deLay etc)show their true colors. Kill 'em all and let their buddy Jeebus sort 'em out.
As a good Christian, Bush doesn't hate poor kids; he hates the sin of being poor. Cutting them off from health care is God's way of punishing them for their sin of poverty.
@1-You can stuff the squash blossoms with a mix of goat cheese and parmesan before dredging and frying them.
But I missed the big news on Line Out because DeLay's gall tweaked my brain: The Weekly World News is going away! For my money, they had the best coverage of the Middle East evAr: "Saddam Hussein and gay lover Osama Bin Laden adopt Naked Ape Baby!" (anyone finds that pic wins my undying gratitudes)
christopher @ 7,
"Saddam Hussein and gay lover Osama Bin Laden adopt Naked Ape Baby!"
That could have been on the cover of TIME given today's standards.
Has anyone made the connection between squash blossoms and veggie abortions?
And who works the fields to harvest these squash if not the gourd child?
At least they are not laced with formadahyde and stuck in trailers.
I find that just a dash of botulin gives hot sauce the extra kick that today's discriminating hot sauce afficianado demands. Muy caliente!
I am sad to hear about the Weekly World News. Just another case of the Man shutting down anyone who dares to tell the truth.
A vegetarian entree, ECB? Dare I hope? Has our prodigal daughter returned to the fold?
@6 Oh that sounds tasty. Where can I get some squash blossoms? I've heard of the B'way Farmer's Market, but where and when is it? Can I get them at the Pike Place Market? (I realize as a true Capitol Hillbilly I should make an effort to support the B'way market, but the idea of these is making me hungry RIGHT NOW!)
Veg: To honor multiple requests, all recipes of the day this week will be vegetarian (and delicious!)
@13, I'm good with the vegetarian menu, but please make sure you don't skimp on the dairy! Let's not get all vegan about it, OK?
