The Morning News

posted by on July 16 at 7:00 AM

Major Oversight: US intelligence oversight panel failed to report violations for last 5 1/2 years.

Powering Down: North Korea deactivates its nuclear reactor.

Shook Ones: Large quake hits Japan’s coast.

Dick: Cheney pushing for a military “solution” in Iran.

I Thought We Were Friends:
Nearly half of all foreign fighters in Iraq are from Saudi Arabia.

The Impending War Between Man and Machine:
Air Force unleashes robot attack squadron.

The $30,000,000 Club:
Obama and Clinton have ridiculously deep pockets. Whoever buys me a boat, gets my vote.

Roll Call:
See how your state reps voted last Friday.

And now, because no one demanded it, the epic ending to Turkish Star Wars. It’s the surreality of a Jodorowsky film, the production values of a Power Rangers episode and a level of copyright infringement usually only found on Canal Street, all rolled up into one big fluffy cloud of bad ideas and bong smoke.

It's almost enough to make you embarrassed to be Turkish. Almost. :-)

There has been an increase in interest among SW collectors in bootleg and nonofficial action figures and what-not that were made in places like Turkey in the 70s and 80s, e.g. of characters from Turkish Star Wars. If you see one, snatch it up!

Note to self;
re: lessons from Turkish Star Wars-

When in need of explosives, always keep in mind
1 - Rocks
2 - The head of a mummy.

What's with McDermott being the sole nay vote on the FDA bill? Is there something I'm missing?

The Democrats are morons. I am losing hope in them. The GOP filibustered an amendment to give the troops a stable time home after combat duty and the Dems haven't been on the media showing how the GOP does not fight for the interest of our troops? The GOP also blocked a minimum tour of duty amendment....WTF???? Why aren't the Dems showing the American public this blatent disregard for troop welfare?!?!?!

I don't get the Dem's. They have so much they can call bullshit on, yet they remain quiet and assume that the general public is going to hear about it. FUCKING morons. Thats why they haven't been able to muster a majority.

How about the drunk paroled murderer who swerved out of his lane to hit a group of cyclists doing the STP? I'd think that story would resonate with the folks here.

Or the Christian nutjob in Houston who thought he was Elijah, and that God was commanding him to kill a gay man?

Does Luke have some kind of easy access nipple holes on the front of his jacket or something?

That Cheney story is terrifying. I can't believee that that is being reported outside the US and not the major topic of conversation on the MSM. Given his popularity and the situation in Iraq, it's just not Constitutionally tenable that he shoud suggest anything of the sort. Obviously, the Democrats have to turn up the pace to panic in pulling all the plugs on the Iraq war. Voting to withhold funding for the Dick's office is spitting in the ocean. They had a mandate and 2008 isn't far off, it's time to start making the Republicans filibuster and putting Specter, Lugar and the other talk with no action Republican feet to the fire.
