That's the I-5 Colonnade, right? So it's not Republican or Harrison but sort of an extension of the old Howe St staircase, the one that connects 10 Av E to Lakeview.

The park is part of my morning commute and I really enjoy it -- designed well (there's only so much you can do under a freeway) and convenient.

Ooooh I love the hillclimbs. The ones over by prospect and highland sometimes have sweet little hidey holes for drinkin' in nature and the such.

Mine too. this is part of Colonnade park, beneath I-5 mostly between E Blaine and E Howe Street. You can now get from 10th Ave E all the way down to Eastlake easily on foot, by heading down due west. The return trip can not, however, be called easy. :)

The city maintains a detailed list of all these staircases -- a couple hundred of them -- but doesn't put the info on their web page as far as I can tell. Boo.

The lone palm tree nearby is tragic.

Someone wrote an article several years ago about long Seattle staircases. Was that the Stranger?

This is a dope run. The picture only shows about half of it. It is an ascent of 300 feet and can make yer chest feel like a damn blast furnace when you run to the top. http://www.mapmyrun.com/
