Adrian, Dear - she was only 64. Sure, she was at one time part of a huge religious pyramid scheme, but she paid her dues, and then some, here on Earth. She was one of the few Evangelicals who actually gave a rat's ass about gays and people with HIV/AIDS.

In her own goofy sort of way, she did a lot of good. I'm not going to get all sappy over her death, but at least I think we should acknowledge her good works.

Oh calm down Adrian. She was a good person with a terribly positive outlook on life just one day before her death.

Yeah, if you ever find yourself not in love with Tammy Faye, just watch The Eyes of Tammy Faye and see her for the amazing person she was. You and I certainly wouldn't agree with her religion, but I also think you'd agree that she was a great person who loved everyone (everyone) and never judged anyone for anything they did. I know she married a douchebag and was involved in a huge cult (Christianity) but she still seems like one of the truly great people in this world.

The photos of her weighing 65 pounds in her last days were truly sad and pathetic. I used to watch the PTL show just to watch Tammy Faye - Jim Bakker was truly a sleazy character but Tammy Faye was just plain entertaining - irrespective of the cult involvement. It's nice to know she left the world with no regrets.

"Dubious and depressing duty" indicates that someone forced this onerous responsbility upon you. A Latin phrase applies here: "De mortuis nihil nisi bonum" (of the dead, say nothing but good). Try a little BBC custom: "The news as read by Adrian........."

That clip should be part of a horror movie.

She was one of the horrible people who have done such good work undermining christianity. Her combination of free market capitalism and emotionalism presaged the rise of the bushites who have used these tools to get us into Iraq. Every time Bush opens his mouth I can see the mascara dripping down his face.

What a prissy little fag you are. So stupid as to be disrespectfull to the only religious person on this earth to ever stand up for your rights. I am glad she was a bigger and better person than you are, dear Adrian. You shame all people, gay or straight, with your bitchy and pious attitude.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am a recording artist in the Miami area, and I am also a singer and songwriter. I have composed a song in memory of Tammy Faye Messner and have posted it on my website http://rjstarr.info.

I am writing you because I am one of millions of people who have been inspired by her life and saddened by her lost battle to cancer. I am hoping that this song will somehow reach her family and that it will help them to heal. In the words of someone who recently heard my song:

You have changed my whole perspective on Tammy Faye. As you may know, I'm very very new to the Spiritual world as you guys understand it, so all these preachers are totally unfamiliar to me... moreover, I've always held kind of a distrust for many of them, including Tammy. These last days I've been watching the Larry King interviews with her and her family and had been mellowed by the sincerity and simplicity that came through but still held my resistance and distrust. The simple fact that you would have composed such a beautiful song for her makes me question my prejudices to the core and as we speak I am revaluating my standpoint totally. For a person as tender but mature as you to express so much love and gratitude in such a beautiful melody and poetical words means that you have been deeply touched by this woman. And for that to happen she must have been so much of an extraordinary human being than I imagined. I really hope that her family and friends understand how deeply moving your song is and how much love and admiration it really conveys. You have opened my eyes and I will see her differently from now on.... I'm sure there is enough taped material around left for all those of us who missed her message in life... maybe that might be her greatest legacy in the future

I guess I would like that realization to somehow reach others. Maybe you could help me?

the people who made that documentary decided to frame her life in an unexpecting fashion in order to bring more attention to their product. tammy faye was no saint. all of you inspired from her must reflect upon the power of television and capitalist whores upon your lives.

Tammy Faye was a financial predator preying on the elderly, the gullible, the vulnerable, seeking their assets to support her own lavish lifestyle.

Another thought: All the support that she may have had for the gay community only made her a fag-hag, not a saint. It is stupid to wash away all of a person's evil doings just because they happen to be gay supporters. She was disgusting and I'm embarrassed that she tried to be a spokesperson for the gay community!
