I dont know man. Im sure for the "downsized" workers, the sentence of the day was this one:

I'm in Atlanta, and I'd take the Stranger over Creative Loafing 10 times out of 10.

(And last I checked, Creative Loafing doesn't run Savage Love. WTF?)

Another Atlantan. I don't even bother with Creative Loafing, and I haven't for years. It's unbelievably crappy.

We should consider ourselves lucky that Mr. Eason didn't use something along the lines of "leveraging our connectivity gateway".

When is The Stranger/Index Publishing going to do a hostile takeover of the Newark Weekly (NJ) or the Newark Reader (DE)?!? Those alt news products desperately need new management to maximize profits and goose market share.

After all, the weekly is a real corporate monster, but savage love, being syndicated by enormous conglomerates, is not. Wow...

Give dan his props, he can convice people that he is an alternative voice in 400 papers across the country on a weekly basis.

I liked you a lot more when you wrote me a personal letter on a bar napkin when I was in college explaing what felching was when I won a little contest. That was back in 1992. Now, you and "ask a mexican" are just about equal in pedestrianism.

As a former Atlien, I'll defend the Loaf. I was actually more excited to read Hollis Gillespie's article every week than any single recurring column in the Stranger (though the Stranger is generally better as a whole). The Loaf could change that psychedelic lettering on the cover and I wouldn't look like such a dipshit reading it...

I'm completely crushed that they bought the Chicago Reader from its hippy idealist creators. I read that thing completely through every week and if they replace local politics with celebrity sightings or some shit I'm going to cry.

Frantic - I guess it's been quite a while for you. Creative Loafing changed it's logo 5 years ago and I miss the 70's font. It's cold, corporate and soul-less now.
