It's "faze", not "phase".

Your friend "Lee"? Would that have been Lee Harvey Oswald? If so, did Lee ever tell you if LBJ hired him for the hit?

Who was the last US President to outlive their First Lady? These old birds seem to live a long, long time.

No disrespect to Lady Bird Johnson, who I thought died years ago, but could we also get a SLOG entry about all-time great movie and TV character actor Charles Lane who died this week at age 102?

bless her soul. lady bird johnson was the coolest name EVER for a first lady (or any lady) and what a lady she was.

a mint julep in her honor seems appropriate on a day like today.

My first guess as to who Josh's "great friend Lee" could be is:

Lee Radziwell...

Josh being so hip and all.

Her real name was Claudia. Her nanny gave her the nickname as a child.

I'll miss that voice of hers. She was a real charmer, fine creature, that Lady Bird.

@3: The answer to your question of who was the last president to outlive their first lady is intersting: Richard Nixon outlived Pat.

The next will be George W outliving Laura. There's a pattern. You see Pat Nixon died of shame and humiliation - something her husband didn't possess or experience. Just like 43. Lady Bird, to her credit, stood by her man no matter how badly he treated her; you only have to read Robert Caro's massive biography of LBJ to understand what the tragedy of being an American political wife is all about. Figuratively, the US landscape has been strewn with their bodies. Although one has picked herself up, dusted herself off and started all over again. See Hill run.
