The next will be George W outliving Laura. There's a pattern. You see Pat Nixon died of shame and humiliation - something her husband didn't possess or experience. Just like 43. Lady Bird, to her credit, stood by her man no matter how badly he treated her; you only have to read Robert Caro's massive biography of LBJ to understand what the tragedy of being an American political wife is all about.
