Regarding This Week’s Last Days….

In this week’s Last Days column, I write about the nuptials of Ingo and Andy Pixel, who got married on Saturday and are pictured above.

SATURDAY, JULY 14 Speaking of good news, the week continues with Ingo and Andy Pixel, who today concluded two and a half years of karaoke-soaked living in sin by becoming husband and wife. At this point in history, Last Days has difficulty summoning much enthusiasm for heterosexuals partaking of a social privilege that’s denied to so many. Still, when die-hard freaks find their soul mates, everyone must cheer. Congrats, Ingo and Andy!

Once the column hit stands, more than one friend o’ the Pixels wrote to alert me to the following stipulation, included in the invitations to the wedding ceremony:

We are grateful that we have the opportunity to share our love and celebrate with the blessing of the state government. Unfortunately, not all of our loved ones are so lucky. We have a registry web page set up through the Human Rights Campaign (the forerunner in fighting for equal rights legislation in the United States), and we would be thrilled if you decided to participate by making a donation in our name.

Well shut my mouth (and make your donation at the link above.)

The image isn't loading for me, but it's "scaled.ingo.jpg". I'm a friend of Ingo's, and I can assure you she is not scaly, but rather normal in appearance. Just so's ya know.

What a classy thing for Ingo and Andy to do--and very classy for you to pass along the additional information, too.

If only the HRC was more interested in actually fighting for equal rights legislation than they are in schmoozing the rich and powerful in their plush DC offices. I'd give it to Lambda Legal instead: http://www.lambdalegal.org/

Actual victory: Redmond just voted to extend benefits to same-sex partners of city employees -- an action DIRECTLY attributable to LL. HRC? We're still waiting for their first score.

At least they're not spending their honeymoon reading Harry Potter.

Should I know who these people are?

Was this day just a shout out to some friends?

(which I'm not knocking)

Andy and Ingo are just super nice people, that's all. I know them both as friends/acquaintences (why is there no decent word for this in English?) and am glad they found each other.

Ingo is a seriously talented make-up artist and not just for punk-style either.

So now Gays can't celebrate the marriage of hetero-friends. All because the state won't legitimise our relationships. I didn't get the memo.

Bullshit, if they are your friends celebrate with them. Why turn one thing into yet another reason why so many of the family are depressed and depressing.

Perhaps if the rest of society didn't percieve all gays the way they percieve the seattle homohipster crowd then we might stand a shot. But I doubt they can keep their lips together or their lives out of the gutter.

Congrats to the newlyweds. Kareoke rulez!!!

even though I don't have a clue who they are, their thoughtful act brought a tear to my eye.

Someday, when I am able to marry my partner, I hope to be able to "pay it forward" by suggesting a donation to a worthy organization.
