However, like any work of fiction with a suspense/mystery element, it's more fun if you don't know what'll happen. Most of the time, that happens by default--nobody knew, ten minutes into The Sixth Sense, that Bruce Willis's character was already dead, because it wasn't plastered all over the damned internet. You can't argue that the movie wouldn't have been as fun if you already knew.

Harry Potter, however? I've stopped reading most of my regular sites because one has to actively dodge spoilers, and I don't want the story spoiled for me. I'm not an "insane Harry Potter nerd," I just prefer an actual story over a summary of plot points. I've been waiting two years and I don't mind waiting 48 more hours. Really.

It's not the existence of spoilers that are dickish, it's people posting them places where they don't belong or can't be knowingly avoided. I was hoping that the Sloggers would either deign themselves above the Let's Spoil Harry Potter thang, or actually be above it. Ah well. I guess I'm off Slog until after this weekend too--and I usually like you people.
