Having never actually been to city hall, how would I find the room with the meeting? I assume whatever front door greeting type person would normally be there will kick off at 5pm.

There's a info desk in the lobby, but I think the meeting is being held in a conference room adjacent to the lobby.

Anon, the meeting will be held in the Bertha Knight Landes Room, which is the large room to your left after you enter Seattle City Hall from the west side (i.e., the B.L. room is on the south side). It's hard to miss.

A more interesting question is, "How would a citizen like myself or even the press know about this meeting had Phil not heard from a friend and tipped off The Stranger, who posted a notice to their blog less than two hours prior to the meeting?"

I heard about the meeting through the grapevine. I looked all over the City's Web site and could find no mention of any such meeting (not on the calendar of events, not under "Mayor", "Public Safety", "Police", or "OPA".

I called the Citizens' Service Bureau (684-CITY) this afternoon to confirm, and while the representative eventually was able to confirm it by finding the Landes Room reserved for "OPA" from 5:30 - 9:00 this evening, even she couldn't find any mention of the meeting on the Web site. She gave me the number to call OPA for more information.

I called OPA at 615-1566. The person who answered confirmed that the meeting is to occur and that it is a public meeting. She said that OPA is only involved insofar as they will provide information requested by this Police Accountability Review Panel. She also confirmed that the Mayor's Office has neither posted this meeting on the City Web site nor issued a press release about it.

Public meeting, huh?

Correction: The Bertha Knight Landes room is on your left after you enter City Hall from the east -- the main entrance.
