In the dog community "designer dogs" is the generic term for a poodle mix (and sometimes other mixes) that's given a silly name and sold at a horribly inflated price as a "new rare breed!" to people who don't know any better.

Labradoodles, Cockerpoos, Maltipoos, Puggles (beagle and pug), etc.

They're commonly being sold for prices that breeders of quality purebred show dogs wouldn't dream of asking, and are almost invariably bred by backyard breeders and puppy mills.

The great thing is that they would all be happy to!
