Letter of the Day

posted by on July 12 at 14:31 PM

roundabout.jpgAt Summit and Olive St a white circle showed up around June 22. I assumed the city had painted it in preparation for a roundabout but didn’t bother looking into it. Last night, someone decided to change it into a peace sign: peaceabout.jpg

I love this city : )

Can Ecce find something negative to say about this?! I wonder...

Footprint of the American chicken.

Someone is allowing the Terrorists to WIN!!!! We all know a peace sign is un-american and satanic !!!!

I love this hippie :)

Bush caught this message via satellite imaging.
War is over folks.

Ah, there you are Poe...

What do you have against me?

Deep down inside you are embarrased. You are embarrased because you know that I am right and that your antics only prove one thing. It proves that you are deep down inside you may be a decent human being, but you are so overwelmed with your own self hatred that you continue with self destructive behavior. Perhaps some therapy might do you some good. After all, as you well know, "Bug Chasers" are not an urban myth.

Well said, Brett.

Who cares about the awful weather, the insane taxes, ridiculous cost of living, passive-aggressive locals, gridlock, four-hour winter days, and the inability to get a meal after 10PM? This makes up for everything.

Dear god, man. Get a grip.

Posted by A Nony Mouse | July 12, 2007 3:20 PM

Mouse, and you've done what to make it a little bit more tolerable?

Posted by Bellevue Ave | July 12, 2007 3:24 PM

You love this city because someone drew a peace sign? That's it? Back home in Berkeley we may have too many hippies, but at least no one gets excited over a damn graffitied peace sign.

Posted by S | July 12, 2007 3:35 PM

Berkeley is it's own mess that can't have comparison to the real world.

Posted by Bellevue Ave | July 12, 2007 3:38 PM

Right on. Then again, Brett probably hasn't worked a real job a day in his life. Hence, a peace sign is just peachy and everything you mention means nothing to him. Off to the coffee shop, then to call home to Kennewick and get the gosip..

Posted by ecce homo | July 12, 2007 3:40 PM

I'm so torn by what you've said, Ecce. I just called a therapist and am scheduled to discuss my inner depression and father issues tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM. Thank you so much for showing me the way.

Psych! Get cancer and die!

Posted by Mr. Poe | July 12, 2007 3:46 PM

ecce is already unhappy enough that he has to bring other people down with him.

Posted by Bellevue Ave | July 12, 2007 3:53 PM

I drive in the right lane when I'm going slowly. It's a neat trick; you locals should learn it.

Posted by A Nony Mouse | July 12, 2007 4:08 PM

heres the rub; im from california and moved here 4 years ago, and i dont drive here.

you cant be from california to make the complaints you did, so im guessing mountain state.

Posted by Bellevue Ave | July 12, 2007 4:26 PM

@6 @10:

move the fuck away if you don't like it

Posted by assholes | July 12, 2007 4:34 PM

lemme guess, you are in your mid twenties and think that because Seattle is so tragiclly "Hip" that it is a great place to live.

Perhaps when you grow up and begin to actually participate with us Grown Ups, things like cost of living and taxes will mean something to ya. Until then, enjoy the live music and the undying stupidity.

Posted by ecce homo | July 12, 2007 4:54 PM

waaaaaaahhhh grownups move to Texas if they like it better there. you must be underage.

Posted by ecce moron | July 12, 2007 5:58 PM

ecce--are you serious? like, really serious? wtf are you doing here? not in seattle, but in the world.

Posted by jz | July 12, 2007 6:18 PM

@13 - Yeah, what the hell is up with that? I drive across the Oregon state line, and suddenly there's a fast lane again. It seems to be a Washington-only phenomenon.

Posted by SteveR | July 12, 2007 6:30 PM

I live in Seattle because I LIKE it here. If you prefer Oregon because of its fast lane, then by all means, organize your life so that you're not horrible and bitter about where you live and MOVE TO OREGON. In these tumultuous times, pointing out small happinesses is an act of rebellion and of hope... Sure, Seattle has problems. Everywhere has problems. That doesn't mean we can't take the time to celebrate what's great about our communities.

Posted by Katelyn | July 12, 2007 6:43 PM

@16 - First, fuck you. I don't even live in Seattle. And, I'm a homeowner in another part of Western Washington. But, most importantly, I find it to be the height of stupidity to bitch about a place that you either chose to live in, or don't have enough sense to move away from.

Posted by assholes | July 13, 2007 9:59 AM

Ecce believes that the only mature way to live your life is to get married, have kids, and judge everybody else.

Seems a little Christian. Seems a little Conservative. Seems a little retarded.

Posted by Mr. Poe | July 13, 2007 11:32 AM

Yes, several years ago we looked into getting some traffic circles in this area. Summit Avenue is basically a jet landing runway if you stand at Union St and look down it all the way to East Howell. Maybe at last a traffic circle is on its way.

Posted by Seattle Salmon | July 13, 2007 1:47 PM

Mr. Poe,

You really should avoid talking about subjects you have no understanding of.

But trying to explain to you why it is stupid to talk of being "Non-judgemental" and being all anti-christian would be like throwing pearls before swine.

Someday you may realize what a shmuck you were when you actually stop "fighting" against decent normal people. But in case you don't, best just stay on Captial Hill...

Posted by ecce homo | July 14, 2007 1:22 PM

Why so much hatred over someone enjoying a Peace sign? What, a dude can't work hard downtown, try and earn his keep, pay rent, have relationships, and then let a peace sign painted on the ground give him a LITTLE bit of happiness?

How about saying, "Yeah, that's kinda cool." Like that ol' "Stop for me, it's the Claw" sign. Good times.
